Pole Beans the Second Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first time I pick beans is always small and sometimes the second time is just a little bit bigger.\u00a0 That is what happened today when I went outside to take a look at my beans.\u00a0 There were plenty that had reached the perfect size for eating.<\/p>\n<p>Last year I had plenty of beans that I could can them for the Winter and they kept their amazing flavor.\u00a0 Hopefully I am looking to do the same thing as long as I get many more beans throughout the season.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Today I picked around 190 beans total and this is just an approximate amount.\u00a0 I like to go by how many pounds were picked rather than quantity.\u00a0 Today I got a little over nine pounds and was able to fill almost three bowls.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-122.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1021\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-122-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Pole Beans Harvested\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-122-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-122.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The one thing that I look for when going through my bean plants is if they are continuing to produce flowers.\u00a0 Most of them were doing just that while some others were a little bit behind.\u00a0 The ones behind will probably get another dose of potassium to get keep those flowers coming.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-058.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1022\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-058-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Pole Bean Vines\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-058-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-058.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More cherry and Roma tomatoes were also harvested today and got a pretty good size Roma.\u00a0 It weighed exactly two pounds and was probably one of the biggest ones that was growing in the garden.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-106.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1023\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-106-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Two Pound Roma Tomato\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-106-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-106.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I still have plenty of more green Roma tomatoes, but none of that size.\u00a0 Hopefully more will come that will be just as big.\u00a0 The more Roma tomatoes the more sauces I can make.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-111.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1024\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-111-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Roma Tomatoes\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-111-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-111.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cherry tomatoes are best for salads and eating them whole.\u00a0 I love these types of tomatoes and getting more of them will mean more salads to make with them.\u00a0 No steakhouse tomatoes today, but there are a few that may be ripe at any time now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-131.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1025\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-131-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Cherry and Roma Tomatoes\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-131-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-131.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Three more cucumbers collected today and my plants are continuing to produce which is a very good sign that I will have many more cucumbers to pick in the near future.\u00a0 I just need to keep up with them when it comes to feeding them and I should begin to see many more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-135.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1026\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another zucchini was ready this afternoon and I was going to pick it earlier, but it wasn&#8217;t quite ready.\u00a0 When I checked it today it had reached its peak and was perfect for cooking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-115.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1027\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-115-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Zucchini\" width=\"300\"
