Since it has been a couple of weeks since we last planted most of our vegetables and flowers I thought it would be a good idea to show you what they look like when they first begin.<\/p>\n

Everyone knows exactly what they look like when they produce flowers or fruit, but what about when they first poke out of the ground?\u00a0 When I first started I never knew what plants looked like when they first came out of the ground.\u00a0 Most of the time I had to guess what was a plant and what was just a random piece of grass that found its way into the soil.<\/p>\n

By knowing what they look like in the beginning you can easily avoid this problem of accidentally planting a weed or piece of grass and understand how they grow from the beginning all the way to maturity.\u00a0 Here are some pictures that I took today that shows many of my plants finally sprouting.<\/p>\n

1. Cantaloupe<\/p>\n

\"Cantaloupe<\/a><\/p>\n

2. Tomatoes – All tomatoes sprout the same way and are not much different from one another.\u00a0 They all start with two leaves (as do most plants) and a purple colored stem.\u00a0 The stem will eventually turn green solid green later on.<\/p>\n

3. Mammoth Sunflower<\/p>\n

4. Calendula<\/p>\n

5. Cosmos<\/p>\n

\"Cosmos<\/a><\/p>\n

6. Dill<\/p>\n

\"Dill<\/a><\/p>\n

7. Alyssum<\/p>\n

\"Alyssum<\/a><\/p>\n

8. Queen Anne’s Lace – is very similar to dill.<\/p>\n

\"Queen<\/a><\/p>\n

9. Eggplant<\/p>\n

\"Eggplant<\/a><\/p>\n

10. Amaranthus<\/p>\n
