Harvest of Corn, Cantaloupe, and Some More Tomatoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been very busy this week especially with all new harvests of corn and cantaloupes.\u00a0 The cantaloupe was nearly by accident because I wanted to check out the connection between the melon and the vine and when I turned it over it just came right off.\u00a0 Good thing the melon was pretty much ready anyways.<\/p>\n<p>The other cantaloupe that I picked was coming off from the vine so I just decided on removing it since it was going to come done at any moment.\u00a0 No reason to leave it on the vine like that.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Each cantaloupe weighed three pounds and were good sizes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-211.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1069\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-211-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Two Cantaloupes Harvested\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" only one ear for now.\u00a0 There are plenty of ears out there that are probably real close or are actually ready for harvesting.\u00a0 I will have to go through the stalks and check each one to make sure that they do not stay out there if they are ready.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want them to become overripe.<\/p>\n<p>Here I was cooking the first ear of corn of the season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-170.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1071\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had it for lunch and it was really sweet and delicious.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to pick plenty more of them.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did I pick some new vegetables and fruit today I also picked a boatload of tomatoes.\u00a0 This includes all three of Roma, steakhouse, and cherry tomatoes.<\/p>\n<p>I picked three containers of Roma tomatoes today and they weighed over 20 pounds!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-188.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1072\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-188-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Cherry and Roma http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-188.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are the first two containers of Roma tomatoes along with seven pounds of cherry ones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-224.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1073\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-224-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Third Container of Roma Tomatoes\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-224-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-224.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the last container of Romas that were harvested today.\u00a0 I also did pick some steakhouse tomatoes as well.\u00a0 They are not as big as they should have been, but I can still use them nonetheless.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-230.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1074\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also got some more cucumbers today and one zucchini.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-240.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1075\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Good sized cucumbers that can be used for some relish or just for cutting into slices.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-238.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1076\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-238-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Four and a Half Pound Zucchini\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-238-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-238.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is what I like to call the second tier zucchini.\u00a0 I had a first tier which ended early in the month and the plants started coming back by producing new leaves, flowers, and vegetables.\u00a0 Now I should be getting more of them in this second harvest.\u00a0 This is the first one for now and more are on the way.<\/p>\n<p>I also may be getting another watermelon on the way from the second plant in the garden.\u00a0 I had planted this seed later in the garden and didn&#8217;t think that it would get to the stage of producing flowers and fruits.\u00a0 I just discovered a fruit on the vine that might lead to another watermelon for the season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-234.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1077\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will have to watch this fruit closely and if it starts getting bigger each day then that will mean I will be possibly getting another watermelon.\u00a0 I can only hope that the bees around pollinated this fruit.<\/p>\n<p>The other thing is I still have pole beans to pick which probably could have been done today, but
