{"id":1099,"date":"2015-08-27T08:24:19","date_gmt":"2015-08-27T12:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/?p=1099"},"modified":"2015-08-27T08:24:19","modified_gmt":"2015-08-27T12:24:19","slug":"multiple-harvests-fruits-vegetables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/multiple-harvests-fruits-vegetables\/","title":{"rendered":"Multiple Harvests of Fruits and Vegetables Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rather than collecting just one or two types of fruits or vegetables I decided on picking everything that looked ripe.\u00a0 This includes zucchini, beans, cucumbers, peppers, cantaloupe, and even cherry tomatoes.<\/p>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t sure if I was going to pick some more corn yesterday, but I decided to wait until this afternoon to pick some more ears.\u00a0 Most of them should be ready by now or at least ripe enough to be considered for consumption.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>One of the first fruits that I picked this morning were my cherry tomatoes.\u00a0 I only have a few plants left that are still providing me with many tomatoes along with plenty of flowers as well.\u00a0 They will soon be empty and that will be the end of the season for them, but I have plenty to enjoy for quite a while.\u00a0 Seven pounds of cherry tomatoes were collected this morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-052.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1100\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-052-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"7 lbs. Cherry Tomatoes Harvested\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-052-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-052.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once I finished up on picking cherry tomatoes I then began working on harvesting my pole beans.\u00a0 These vegetables actually take the longest to pick because I like to make sure that I pick beans that are done or at least very close to done as possible.\u00a0 The leaves can sometimes block the view of some ripe beans and looking for them can be time consuming.\u00a0 This time I picked just nine lbs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-072.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1101\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-072-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Nine Pounds of Pole Beans\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-072-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-072.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last fruit picked this morning would be one of the last cantaloupes in the garden.\u00a0 I have only one more on the vine which will be picked in a couple of weeks or so.\u00a0 I also may be getting another watermelon from one of my plants if it gets pollinated.\u00a0 I will have to wait and see if this happens.\u00a0 For now a 2 1\/2 pound cantaloupe was harvested.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-048.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1102\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-048-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"2 1\/2 lb. Cantaloupe\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-048-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-048.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cucumbers have been growing quite well and I picked up five more of them this morning.\u00a0 About one pound each they were the perfect size to use for making relish.\u00a0 I will be probably be making relish soon due to the many cucumbers that I have harvested in the last month.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-085.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1103\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-085-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Five Cucumbers Picked\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-085-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-085.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last single vegetables of the day were one zucchini and a pepper.\u00a0 The peppers I grew this year have been growing quite well and they are very large sizes.\u00a0 They do not weigh much, but they are big enough to use one for multiple salads or other meals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-0571.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1104\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-0571-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"One Large Pepper\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-0571-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-0571.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I always pick zucchinis when they are large rather than picking them when they are ripe.\u00a0 These vegetables have also been growing quite well during this season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-0781.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1105\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Picture-1-0781-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"4 lb.
