Beans, Corn, and Peppers with Eggplant on the Way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week was more harvesting of various vegetables including beans, corn, and peppers.\u00a0 For now these will be the main harvesting vegetables that I will be picking over the next couple of weeks until my eggplants are ready.<\/p>\n<p>I have about five eggplants growing on three plants which have been getting bigger each day since about a week ago.\u00a0 My other plants are finally starting to get flowers and I think they will have enough time to start producing eggplants of their own.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I think that my eggplants will just about be done very soon and probably sometime next week possibly.\u00a0 It all depends how big they are going to grow and how long it will take for them to ripen.\u00a0 Once they stop growing it doesn&#8217;t take long at all for them to ripen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1123\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-005-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Eggplant #1\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is another eggplant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1124\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-008-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Eggplant #2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-008-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-008.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just a couple of eggplants that will soon be harvested sometime in the near future.\u00a0 When I start picking them I will definitely make sure to keep you informed.\u00a0 For now let&#8217;s discuss some of the picking I did this week.<\/p>\n<p>I first started with pole beans in the beginning of the week because they have increased in size since I last picked them.\u00a0 Not all of them were ready, but enough of them were and had to be picked right away.\u00a0 I got nine pounds this time and it looks like that my beans are starting to produce less flowers and beans.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1125\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-017-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Nine Pounds of Beans\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-017-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-017.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two bowls filled with large beans is always better than not getting at all.\u00a0 So far this season has been good for beans and hopefully more are on the way.<\/p>\n<p>Peppers have also been doing well this season and I have been picking some really large ones that weigh up to a half a pound.\u00a0 This is a good weight for all sweet peppers.\u00a0 I had left one on the plant a little too long and it started to turn red which is no problem at all.\u00a0 It just means that it is more ripe than normal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-080.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1126\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-080-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Pepper well before it got to this point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-085.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1127\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-085-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Large Green Pepper Harvested\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-085-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-085.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two great sizes of peppers picked this week.\u00a0 There are plenty of peppers still on the plants as well as flowers continuing to grow.<\/p>\n<p>Corn was the last harvest I did this week.\u00a0 21 ears of corn is what I collected and they were not that bad.\u00a0 I did pick a couple too early, but that happens and is much better than picking them too late I think.\u00a0 This season I have picked them at a good time and have been very delicious and well worth the effort put into my corn plants.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-102.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1128\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-102-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"21 Ears of Corn\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-102-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-102.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think my corn is just about done for the season and I have left one ear which will be used for seeds next season.\u00a0 I will leave it on the stalk for about a month or until the seeds have no moisture and are hard enough to be planted.<\/p>\n<p>I just wanted to let you know about the second watermelon plant that was added a little bit later than my first transplant and is starting to grow a fruit.\u00a0 It only took about a couple of months to finally start growing vines and beginning to produce flowers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-117.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1129\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-117-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Second Watermelon\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-117-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Picture-1-117.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will see if I can get this fruit bigger than last years.\u00a0 I will have to make sure that I water it correctly.\u00a0 With the mulch I placed around them I think this will definitely help to retain water.<\/p>\n<p>I also placed mulch around my broccoli.\u00a0 I will place some mulch around my cabbage plants soon, but for now I just did broccoli because I have so many plants.<\/p>\n<p><a 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So far they are growing good and I will soon have to go through them to make certain that their are no pests or caterpillars
