Just wanted to write a short post on how my plants are doing and some of the many seeds, flowers, and plants beginning to sprout.\u00a0 I have been watching my spinach closely along with the weather, because it will soon be time to place them in the ground.<\/p>\n

With some of the warm weather we have been getting this month I have been putting my spinach plants outdoors getting them ready to be planted into the ground.\u00a0 This week has been quite cloudy and they have not been able to take advantage of the sun or lack thereof.<\/p>\n

Last week had been warm and sunny and was perfect to place my spinach outdoors.\u00a0 Luckily it wasn’t too warm otherwise I might have been a little hesitant in placing them in the bright sun.\u00a0 I made sure that I gave them enough water to last them the entire day to prevent the soil from drying out.<\/p>\n

\"Spinach<\/a><\/p>\n

In this picture my spinach look quite small, but right now most of them have their first true leaves and are looking very good.\u00a0 Once I get a somewhat good sunny day I will place them out again.\u00a0 I would say by April they should be in the ground.<\/p>\n

My flowers that I planted about a week ago are finally sprouting.\u00a0 This included both types of lettuce that I planted this year; the Ruby glow hybrid and the black seeded Simpson.\u00a0 Although it looks like that I placed too many seeds into each peat pot.<\/p>\n

Last year they didn’t sprout as well as I though they would and that is why I placed them in peat pots this season.\u00a0 I also added more seeds to make sure that I had at least one plant per pot.<\/p>\n

Well I actually have at least ten plants per pot.\u00a0 I will have to make sure to thin them out to one plant each.\u00a0 That will take some time, but in the end it will hopefully be worth it.<\/p>\n

The picture above is just from one pot, so you can see that I am going to have my work cut out for me very soon thinning them out.<\/p>\n

Many of my other flowers are sprouting as well which include alyssum, dill, sunflowers, corn flowers, statice, amaranthus, and calendula.<\/p>\n

The only flower that has not yet sprouted is Queen Anne’s lace.\u00a0 My watermelon seeds have failed to sprout as well.\u00a0 Right now they are in the windowsill and because of lack of sunlight this could be the main reason for them not sprouting.\u00a0 I am not worried I will just have to give them some more time.\u00a0 I can also place them underneath lights to give them a possible boost in sprouting.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow I intend on planting tomatoes which will include my super sauce, cherry, and steakhouse varieties.\u00a0 I also hope to plant eggplant and peppers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
