I Have Accomplished in The Past Couple of Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The past couple of days have been pretty busy.\u00a0 I have planted a few extra vegetables that I thought might be needed just in case others did not sprout or germinate.\u00a0 I also added some more flowers to the mix and began getting ready to put the spinach into the ground.<\/p>\n<p>This Friday I started getting the garden ready by cleaning up the debris that has collected on the ground including dead weeds, broccoli plants, leaves, etc.\u00a0 Most of the debris from last season was cleared away the previous year so there should not be that much to clean up.\u00a0 This also included removing the straw or lack there of from the strawberries.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Right now garden season is starting to pick up some pace because tomorrow I will be planting my spinach into the ground which should take a few hours.\u00a0 I will also take some pictures of how I properly place them into the ground and what fertilizers you can use to help them transition easily.<\/p>\n<p>I also went to the local garden center yesterday and bought some fertilizers including bone meal and fish\/seaweed fertilizer from Neptune&#8217;s Harvest.\u00a0 I also wanted to check to see the prices on a few items that I will need for all my transplanting and garden seed planting.\u00a0 I will usually check all places in my area and see where I can get the best price.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what I purchased from the local garden center for now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-094.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-140\" alt=\"Neptunes Harvest and Bone Meal\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-094-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-094-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-094.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As I stated in a <a title=\"The Squash Vegetables Pumpkins and Zucchini Are Next On Our List\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/squash-pumpkins-and-zucchini\/\">previous post<\/a> pumpkins and zucchini tend to sprout very quickly and begin growing right away.\u00a0 Well in less than a couple days after planting them they began to sprout immediately.\u00a0 Granted they were under fluorescent lights 24\/7 and near the radiator.\u00a0 This is still quite fast compared to many other plants that I have grown.\u00a0 Here you can take a look at them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-078.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-142\" alt=\"First Pumpkin Sprouting\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The above picture is what they looked like when they first sprouted.\u00a0 The below picture is what they look like right now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-102.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-143\" alt=\"Pumpkin Plants\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-102-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-102-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-102.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see quite a bit has been happening lately including the weather getting warmer as well.\u00a0 I probably will be placing plants outside this coming week because it is supposed to get into the low sixties.\u00a0 This is a great time to start hardening them off.\u00a0 Although we won&#8217;t be putting them outside during the night for some time, it is always good to <a title=\"Begin Acclimating Your Spinach to Outside Conditions\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/begin-acclimating-spinach-outside-conditions\/\">get them used to the weather<\/a> as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>I just wanted to note that I ended up planting some more dill and Queen Anne lace.\u00a0 Instead of <a title=\"Start Planting Flowers, Sunflowers, and Watermelon\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/firstplantingoftheseason\/\">using large plastic containers<\/a> like I did previously I now put them into small black plastic pots.\u00a0 Here are the pots that I used which I find work quite well with what I need.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0781.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-144\" alt=\"Small Black Plastic Pots\" 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Below are the measurements of these small black pots.<\/p>\n<p><a couple of days and this week will probably get a little bit busier due to putting my spinach plants into the ground and setting up a net around them to keep animals from eating them.\u00a0 I will
