First Two Eggplants Harvested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just harvested the first two eggplants of the season today.\u00a0 I think this is the earliest that I have ever harvested these vegetables.\u00a0 Normally I get them in early September to late August at best.\u00a0 This time I was able to pick them in mid-August which means that I can enjoy them much sooner.<\/p>\n<p>I also harvested many more fruits and vegetables some of which I have been picking for quite awhile.\u00a0 Cherry tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, cucumbers, and some peppers are also on the list for harvesting today.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s first start off with the new harvest of eggplants.\u00a0 I could have left them on the plant to mature a little bit more, but they were no longer growing and I didn&#8217;t want them to rot on the plant.\u00a0 They weighed a total of three pounds and I have plenty still outside just waiting to be harvested.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-264.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1593\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-264-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"First Eggplant Harvested\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Peppers were definitely ready today because many of them were quite large and they were not going to get any bigger.\u00a0 I am very please with the size of my peppers and hopefully there are still many out there that will be near these sizes.<\/p>\n<p>These are the two biggest that I picked this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-280.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1595\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-280-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Two Large Peppers\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-280-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-280-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-280.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I collected a total of five peppers that were all of a decent size.\u00a0 Here are all five of them.<\/p>\n<p><a http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-288-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-288.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cherry tomatoes are just continuing to grow and ripen.\u00a0 I am running out of room to put them and I still have plenty of them that I need to pick.\u00a0 Luckily I love these tomatoes and I am certain that they will not go to waste.\u00a0 Today I collected a total of 73 cherry tomatoes which is the most from one harvest this season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-301.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also got a few Roma tomatoes today as well.\u00a0 I am looking forward to picking some of the large ones that are just starting to ripen on most of the plants.\u00a0 For now I am picking a few at a time and I soon will use them to make my annual tomato sauce.<\/p>\n<p><a sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also had a second harvest of corn yesterday.\u00a0 I got about 17 ears of corn which means I have probably picked over half of what I plan on getting this season.\u00a0 There are still some more out there, but only a few are big enough to call a harvest and the rest are too small to use.\u00a0 So far I have been getting a good harvest from my corn stalks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-152-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lastly are six cucumbers that were harvested today.\u00a0 I think my cucumbers are beginning to wind down because they are now growing smaller sized cucumbers.\u00a0 I picked a few good sized ones today, but the vines right now only have small to medium sized vegetables.<\/p>\n<p><a
