Tomatoes, and Zucchini Picked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was looking forward to picking the first melon of the year and I thought that it was going to be one of my cantaloupes.\u00a0 I was hoping that my honeydew would be ready by this week, but instead one of my cantaloupes had disconnected from the plant meaning that it is ready for harvesting.<\/p>\n<p>I also picked some more steakhouse, Roma, and cherry tomatoes.\u00a0 I did not pick as many cherry tomatoes as <a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/tomato-sauce-roma-tomatoes\/\">my previous harvests<\/a>, but at least I got a few Romas to make up for it.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I am a little excited to try the first melon of the season and I like to leave it out for a couple days and then cut it open.\u00a0 For now I just have to wait until it is a little bit softer to cut into it.\u00a0 I also like to place them in the fridge before eating it because having warm fruit is just not very appetizing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-159.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1616\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-159-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"First Melon Harvested\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-159-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-159-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-159.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a decent size and it wasn&#8217;t too small like others I have grown before.\u00a0 This is probably an average size that I am able to grow in the garden.\u00a0 My plants were most likely too close together which is why they didn&#8217;t grow too big.\u00a0 As long as it is sweet and juicy I will be happy with that.<\/p>\n<p>Some more Roma tomatoes which will be used for making sauce were picked today as well.\u00a0 I like having tomato sauce during the Winter because it is fresh and organic sauce that I can have whenever I need it.<\/p>\n<p>These super sauce tomatoes lived up to its name and most of them weighed at least one pound each!\u00a0 I also picked a steakhouse tomato today that weighed one pound as well.\u00a0 In fact most of the steakhouse tomatoes were at least a pound.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-155-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1617\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-155-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"One sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Along with Roma and steakhouse tomatoes I did manage to collect some cherry tomatoes.\u00a0 There were not as many as before, but I did collect enough that I can use for a simple salad.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-146.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1619\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Picture-1-146-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Cherry Tomatoes and Pole sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also picked some more pole beans.\u00a0 I still have plenty that are on the vines along with plenty of flowers.\u00a0 Hopefully I can get a much larger harvest of pole beans before the season ends.<\/p>\n<p>My zucchini plants are just continuing to produce vegetables and it seems like they are not stopping.\u00a0 This is perfect
