{"id":194,"date":"2014-04-23T15:21:10","date_gmt":"2014-04-23T19:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/?p=194"},"modified":"2014-04-23T15:22:57","modified_gmt":"2014-04-23T19:22:57","slug":"plant-progress-more-alyssum-added","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/plant-progress-more-alyssum-added\/","title":{"rendered":"Plant Progress and Some More Alyssum Added"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I want to share with you some of the progress that I have been having with my plants and some that I have added in order to maximize my time.<\/p>\n<p>So far my plants are doing really good and it will soon be time to leave them out overnight and then into the garden soil they will go soon after.\u00a0 Right now during warm days I have been placing them outside on a table that can hold much of my early plantings.<\/p>\n<p>I also added some more flowers to addition to the ones that I <a title=\"Start Planting Flowers, Sunflowers, and Watermelon\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/firstplantingoftheseason\/\">started growing a month ago<\/a>.\u00a0 Alyssum is one of those flowers that I love to grow as much as possible because of the numerous beneficial insects it attracts.\u00a0 Bees love them lady beetles, flower flies, hover flies, and so much more.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It is one of the best types of flyers that is simple to grow and continuously flowers all season long with very little work.\u00a0 The more that I grow the better chance that I will have much help from these incredible insects.<\/p>\n<p>Next to feverfew that grows perennially, alyssum is the next best insect attracting flower.\u00a0 Put these two together and with some time I am sure that you will get insects you never thought you would get.<\/p>\n<p>I used spinach containers again for these flowers because for some reason they love growing close together.\u00a0 If you supply them with good soil such as Scott&#8217;s Organic Humus and Manure they will sprout very quickly and be a great addition to your collection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-204\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-002-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Second Alyssum Planting\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-002-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-002.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can even see some of them sprouting already when I just planted them three days ago.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-205\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-006-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Alyssum Sprouting\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-006-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-2-006.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used three containers and placed them under the fluorescent lights during the night and in the sun during the day.\u00a0 This is a great way to get them sprouting even faster and hardening off will not be necessary as long as you place them outside while they are in the seed sprouting stage.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the latest on the progress of my plants below.<\/p>\n<p>1. Pumpkin and Zucchinin Plants<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-039.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-195\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-039-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Pumpkin and Zucchini Plants\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-039-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-039.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Statice and Calendula in the Pots on the left.\u00a0 Dill in the large plastic container above and Queene Annes lace below.\u00a0 It looks like I will have to plant more Queene Annes lace since not many seeds sprouted.\u00a0 This is one plant that gives me a hard time each year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0411.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-196\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0411-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Queene Annes Lace\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0411-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0411.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. <a title=\"Eggplant, Peppers, and Tomatoes Can be Started Indoors\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/eggplant-peppers-tomatoes-can-started-indoors\/\">Peppers<\/a> are in the top left peat pots, cucumbers in the bottom left, and watermelon on the right.\u00a0 They are doing good and they will be a breeze to transplant since I can just put the pot in the soil and the pot will decompose.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0431.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-197\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0431-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Peppers, Watermelon, and Cucumbers\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0431-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Picture-1-0431.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4.
