It looks like this might be a long post since I have not written one in quite awhile and I want to keep you up to speed with my garden progress. I have not planted everything into the garden just yet, but I only have a few more seeds and transplants left. I plan on finishing this week, weather permitting of course. Let\u2019s get into what has been going on in my garden.<\/p>\n

After planting my corn it was time to setup my bean trellis and get my bean seeds into the ground. I planted them about a couple weeks ago and most of them have started sprouting and I will have to soon thin them out so they have enough room to grow.<\/p>\n

\"Bean<\/a><\/p>\n

After that I weeded most of my peas and radishes which were starting to get overcrowded. My peas should begin producing pods within the next week or so as long as there is good weather.<\/p>\n

My radishes are starting to pop out of the ground, but this is normal and all you have to do is cover the bulbs with some garden soil to prevent exposure from the sun. If you don\u2019t cover them up they might have a bitter or tough taste to them when it is time to harvest.<\/p>\n

\"Pea<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Radish<\/a><\/p>\n

Sunflower seeds were planted the same time as some of my spring crops and now they are beginning to grow. I could thin them out, but I am only using them to attract bees and other insects. As long as they produce a flower head that is all that matters.<\/p>\n

\"Sunflower<\/a><\/p>\n

Most of my corn has sprouted and there is very minimal amount of thinning out that I will have to do with them this year. It looks like I placed the proper amount of seeds into the two rows that I have. For now they are only a few inches tall and I will be placing mulch around them very soon.<\/p>\n

\"Small<\/a><\/p>\n

My flowers such as dill, alyssum, wildflowers, and corn flowers are growing well and are producing buds and flowers. I have a few more alyssum and dill plants that I need to put in the soil sometime this week. This will be the second set of dill and alyssum to be added to the garden.<\/p>\n

\"Alyssum<\/a><\/p>\n

Both my strawberries and blueberries are producing fruit. They are still not ripe and I will probably seed strawberries turn ripe before my blueberries. For now I have placed a net over the blueberries since they take much more time setting up a net. Strawberries will soon have a net over them, but this shouldn\u2019t take more than a few minutes.<\/p>\n

Today I placed my pepper, eggplant, and melon transplants into the garden. I also planted some zucchini, pumpkin, and pepper seeds into the garden as well.<\/p>\n

Tomatoes were also added to the ground this week. I did not think I would have the time to place them in the ground, but it didn\u2019t take that long to plant all of them in one day. I still have two more that I have to plant, but for now most of them are in the garden.<\/p>\n

\"Transplanted<\/a><\/p>\n

I plan on finishing up that garden by placing the rest of the flowers in the garden and planting both my carrot and cucumber seeds. I plan on being done by the end of the week and then I can start weeding my cool weather crop such as lettuce, spinach, broccoli, and brussel sprouts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
