So Far I have only harvested a couple of fruits and vegetables this season including strawberries which I discussed in a previous post<\/a> and peas which I happened to harvest this afternoon. It was only a small harvest, but it is definitely enough for at least one meal. There are plenty of peas left on the plants that suggest that many more harvests are to come.<\/p>\n

At the moment my strawberries are pretty much done for the season, but it kicked off the season with very delicious and sweet berries that did not last very long. I will be adding more strawberry plants in between each using the runners that will be produced by most of the plants in the garden.<\/p>\n

This way next season I should have at least double the amount of plants. This is a great way to increase the amount of harvests you get each year. I will have just about enough room to fit only one until it is time to mow over the old and dead leaves and stems.<\/p>\n

Like I said I did pick some peas this afternoon and is enough for just one meal at the moment. Many more are growing and I plan on getting many more of them throughout the season. They came a little later than expected, but they should last another month or so before it gets too hot.<\/p>\n

\"First<\/a><\/p>\n

Along with harvesting I planted the last of my flowers that I had growing in pots. These would include some cosmos, corn flowers, statice, and Queen Anne\u2019s lace. The only thing left to transplant would be some wildflowers and dill. This will mark the end of transplanting for this season.<\/p>\n

I also wanted to get you up to speed with the progress of many of my plants. Tomatoes are starting to produce flowers and one plant actually has a couple of tiny tomatoes.<\/p>\n

My bean plants are already producing the vines which the beans will hand from. It looks like I will have to place the ropes for them to climb real soon.<\/p>\n

Lettuce is just about ready to be harvested and I need to pick them before the heat gets to them and they start to bolt. The king crimson red lettuce seems to be the best one thriving.<\/p>\n

One of my broccoli plants has started producing a head which may not get that large due to the change in temperature. The hot humid weather is not good for broccoli.<\/p>\n

My red onions that I planted all the way back in April are actually looking quite well. I can\u2019t wait to start pulling them up sometime in the month of July.<\/p>\n

Blueberries should start turning blue soon as well. I usually get a small harvest at the end of June, but this year I am not so sure that any of them will turn in time. It doesn\u2019t matter most of the berries are harvest in July anyways.<\/p>\n
