They usually come rather quickly and are the first tomatoes to be picked and continued to be harvested throughout the season. Today I picked the first steakhouse tomato along with a couple of cucumbers and some broccoli.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The two pepper plants that were transplanted into the garden a couple of months ago have been doing well and were producing many flowers over the past month. There was a pepper growing on one of them that I was planning on picking this week. It was a good size and this was just one of the hopefully many that I get from both plants.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0645.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2284 size-medium\" title=\"Pepper\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0645-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"The First Pepper of 2018\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0645-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0645-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0645-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0645-700x467.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second harvest of cucumbers was upon me this afternoon. I actually picked a couple of them that were probably done earlier in the week. A little overripe is not that big of a problem and they will mostly taste just like a perfectly ripe cucumber. I like to get them as big as they can grow and then finally pick them off the vine.<\/p>\n<p>I was going through my tomato plants seeing if there were any other tomatoes besides my cherry tomatoes that were ripe for harvesting. I happen to catch a steakhouse tomato that was just about ready for picking. I could have left it on the plant for another day, but it was close enough to ripe. If I wanted a little bit more red I can just place it in a windowsill for a day or two.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0654.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2285 size-medium\" title=\"Fruits and Vegetables Harvested\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0654-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Cucumbers, Tomatoes, and Some Broccoli\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0654-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0654-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0654-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0654-700x467.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last of the corn was picked this week and that is it for corn harvesting. I actually got much more corn this season from my stalks than any other season. Most of the stalks had at least two ears and some actually had three growing.
