{"id":2390,"date":"2019-06-11T12:40:57","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T16:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/?p=2390"},"modified":"2019-06-11T12:41:51","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T16:41:51","slug":"strawberries-harvested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/strawberries-harvested\/","title":{"rendered":"June Bearing Strawberries Ready for Picking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><p>The gardening season is upon us and with June having just arrived this also means June bearing strawberries are beginning to ripen.  Now that these strawberries have turned color it is time to start picking them and enjoy their sweet flavor.  This marks the very first harvest for the year.  I have many other plants that will need to be harvested and I will discuss that in this article.<\/p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I finally got my corn seeds into the ground a couple of weeks ago and they have been taking advantage of the rain we had in the latter part of May. Most of the seeds I had planted actually sprouted which is a good sign.  Now that they have sprouted it is time to thin them out.  I have two rows of corn with a little over twenty plants in each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_2696-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Two rows of corn planted.\" class=\"wp-image-2391\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_2696-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_2696-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_2696-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_2696-700x467.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The only thing I have harvested this season are my strawberries.  I actually could have harvested my lettuce plants which are growing quite well.  I could harvest both my green lettuce plants and some from my red lettuce plants. The roots from these plants are coming out of the soil which is normal and I have to cover them up with some loose soil. Many of these I have transplants for and others I will have to plant directly into the soil.
