Last week I finished picking the rest of the onions that I had growing in the totes. Right now they are drying outside and once they are finished I will bring them inside count them and then weigh them. Along with onions I also decided to pick corn and dig up my potatoes.

Let’s first start off with my potatoes that I dug up last week. Most of the plants had pretty much turned brown and were probably done growing. This is when I decided it was time to see what these plants produced over the spring and partial summer months. Some of them were big and some of them were a little bit smaller, but overall I was able to dig up quite a bit of them. I was able to fill an entire bucket full of potatoes. I can’t wait to start using them for some dinners.

Next I thought it was time to my onions out of the ground and onto the table for drying purposes. Out of six totes full of onions I would say I lost only a couple at the most. Since there are many onions to dry out it will take some time before they are all completely dry and ready for consumption. It will take at least a week longer than my red ones to fully dry.

My corn I harvested this week and many of them today. I only harvested from one row at the moment because I have two different kinds that mature at different times. The other corn that I haven’t harvested will probably be done by next week. Right now I picked 18 ears of corn that weighed 14 pounds which is pretty good for a first harvest.

I also have been picking cucumbers on a semi weekly basis.
