{"id":2442,"date":"2019-08-18T17:41:44","date_gmt":"2019-08-18T21:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/?p=2442"},"modified":"2019-08-18T17:42:11","modified_gmt":"2019-08-18T21:42:11","slug":"summer-harvests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/summer-harvests\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Harvests are Beginning to Come Through"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><p>Now that summer is just about halfway done my crops for this season are starting to ripen.  This includes tomatoes, cherry, Roma, and beefsteak along with eggplants, peppers, pumpkins, cantaloupes, watermelons, and more.  I also transplanted all my broccoli in the garden in order to achieve a fall crop this year.  I also plan on picking some pole beans in the very near future now that I am beginning to see some small beans forming on my plants.<\/p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week I picked the first harvest of cherry tomatoes.  These are the first of the season and now that they are beginning to ripen this means that my other tomatoes might start turning as well.  I can\u2019t wait to pick my beefsteak tomatoes and start eating them with various sandwiches.  I also like using my Roma tomatoes for making sauce because of their thick flesh.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_3214-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"The first cherry tomatoes for 2019\" class=\"wp-image-2443\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_3214-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_3214-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_3214-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_3214-700x467.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I also picked eight more cucumbers which are starting to get backed up and may begin to make relish out of them or even pickle them for the winter. Once the stems of these fruits fall off then I can start picking them and cutting them open to see how they taste. I wasn\u2019t sure if these plants would have enough time to grow because they were planted a little bit late and they have a long mature time before they start to produce fruit.
