Pumpkins, Zucchini, and Sunflowers Transplanted Into Garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This has been a very busy memorial weekend especially for garden work that had to be completed this past week.\u00a0 First of all with good weather it was time to begin transplanted the bulk of my plants that were ready to get out of their restricted containers.<\/p>\n<p>I only was able to plant about half of the tomatoes that I grew inside because some of the later seeds that were grown are not ready to be removed from their pots.\u00a0 I like to wait until the roots of the plant actually reaches the bottom of the pot and they wrap around all the soil.\u00a0 This makes it easier for the plant to be removed and it will come out in one piece as you can see below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-118.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-289\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-118-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Cherry Tomato Plant\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-118-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-118.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The <a title=\"Eggplant, Peppers, and Tomatoes Can be Started Indoors\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/eggplant-peppers-tomatoes-can-started-indoors\/\">four cherry tomatoes<\/a> that were planted inside are now all out in the garden adjusting to the new soil.\u00a0 Not all the tomatoes were ready to be placed into the soil yet, but the earlier grown seeds were at the right size and root growth to be put in the soil.\u00a0 These included the hybrid steakhouse and super sauce tomatoes that were planted earlier in the season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-136.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-290\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-136-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Completed Tomato Transplant\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-136-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-1-136.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was also able to put in a couple of the earlier <a title=\"Start Planting Flowers, Sunflowers, and Watermelon\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/firstplantingoftheseason\/\">sunflowers that I had grown<\/a> in the beginning and they were looking very weak while in their pot.\u00a0 That is why I decided to place them in the garden the same time as the tomatoes.\u00a0 They now have plenty of room to spread out their roots and some food that will last them a couple of weeks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-2-011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-291\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-2-011-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Completed Sunflower Transplant\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-2-011-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-2-011.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I noticed that one of the sets of alyssum plants that I had grown was starting to wilt.\u00a0 I checked the soil and noticed that it was getting dry.\u00a0 This is usually a sign that it is time for me to get them into the garden as quickly as possible.\u00a0 That is exactly what I did.\u00a0 I had two that had roots covering the entire bottom of the containers and planted them near my tomatoes.<\/p>\n<p>The roots of my 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last but not least today I was able to get all my squash plants into the ground before it started to rain.\u00a0 This would include the <a title=\"The Squash Vegetables Pumpkins and Zucchini Are Next On Our List\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/squash-pumpkins-and-zucchini\/\">pumpkins and zucchini<\/a> which grew very fast when planted indoors.\u00a0 Once they got outside they exploded in growth and were ready to be put in the ground this entire weekend.\u00a0 I was able to get it done today and they are hopefully enjoying their new home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-2-056.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" are now in the ground.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Picture-2-077.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On a side note I also put up nets on the strawberries and blueberry plants to keep birds from eating them.\u00a0 I will take a picture of them in the next couple of days so you can see what I did to keep birds away from them.\u00a0 Within the next couple of weeks strawberries will start turning red and they will be ready to
