Beginning to Ripen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I knew that cherry tomatoes were starting to turn red a week or two ago, but I thought the others would take much more time.\u00a0 I went outside to pick some cherry tomatoes that were ready and I noticed that many others including Roma and steakhouse were no longer green.<\/p>\n<p>Not all of them are starting to turn but the older ones that have been around for about a month or so are now beginning to ripen.\u00a0 I would estimate that they are going to be ready before the end of the month.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t take long for them to turn once they start heading in that direction.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I picked cherry tomatoes today that I knew were way past ready.\u00a0 Luckily they didn&#8217;t fall off on there own since they were ready maybe a couple of days ago.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-036.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-509\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-036-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Ripe Cherry Tomatoes\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-036-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-036.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These are larger than normal cherry tomatoes and they have been picked from the same plant.\u00a0 It all has to do with the particular feeding pattern that I provide them through the season.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the tomatoes that I was talking about earlier that are now starting to ripen.\u00a0 The first one is a Roma tomato that is best used for sauces because they are meatier than other types.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-041.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-510\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-041-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Roma Tomato Ripening\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-041-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-041.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a steakhouse tomato that is pretty far along in the ripening process.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-049.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-511\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-049-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Steakhouse Tomato Ripening\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-049-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-049.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today I picked a pepper as well that weighed only a quarter of a pound.\u00a0 Peppers are not normally heavy and this one was at the average weight that they can grow.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-514\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-002-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"First Pepper of The Season\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-002-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-002.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am also getting pole bean flowers that are now producing beans which means I should be picking them from the vine very soon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-026.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-512\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-026-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Pole Bean Flowers\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-026-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Picture-3-026.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think one of my pumpkins that is growing is starting to turn orange.\u00a0 There is a very light tint to the pumpkin that is not that noticeable unless you look really close.\u00a0 Check it out and tell me what you think.<\/p>\n<p><a
