Onion Harvest and More Tomatoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday I was able to get the entire onion harvest completed.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t take long to take out onions once you get started it goes very quickly.\u00a0 All I do is pull them out and brush off all the loose dirt and place them in a large container.\u00a0 Since I have five totes full of onions a small bucket will fill up very fast.<\/p>\n<p>In total I was able to get over 30 pounds of onions and a count of 95.\u00a0 It seems like placing twenty bulbs in the beginning is the right amount you can place in <a title=\"Onions: Better Late Than Never\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/onions-better-late-than-never\/\">these size totes<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>These are the onions I pulled out yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-043.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-546\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-043-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Onions in Basket\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-043-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-043.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They were all about the size of my hand.\u00a0 This year they grew much bigger than last year.\u00a0 The previous season I got about 200 onions and about 34 pounds.\u00a0 As you can see this year I focused on quality rather than quantity and I was able to achieve that goal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-045.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-547\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-045-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Onion in My Hand\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-045-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-045.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once I picked them I then braided them together so that they are easier to store and use for future use.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-055.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-548\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-055-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Braided Onions\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-055-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-055.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today I saw that blueberries were ready for some more picking.\u00a0 I will note that not many of the bushes have many of these berries left.\u00a0 There is only one bush that has a significant amount that I could probably do another harvest and that will be it for the season.\u00a0 Two and a half pounds was picked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-2-037.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-549\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-2-037-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Blueberries 8-9-2014\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-2-037-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-2-037.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also was able to get another steakhouse tomato and some cherry tomatoes as well.\u00a0 The cherry ones are doing real good and so are the steakhouse ones.\u00a0 I am looking forward to picking Roma tomatoes so that I can start using them for sauce making.\u00a0 This is the main reason that I grow these specific plants.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a mix of tomatoes and a cucumber that I picked this morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-2-043.jpg\"><img
