Cucumbers and Steakhouse Tomato"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was a good day while harvesting some cucumbers, tomatoes, and even another zucchini.\u00a0 Earlier in the season when I first picked up some of these fruits and vegetables they were not as big as I had hoped.\u00a0 The only exception being the zucchinis which were extremely larger than normal.<\/p>\n<p>The cucumbers were small and the plants did not look like they were going to produce that much for the season.\u00a0 I also had high hopes for the steakhouse tomatoes because the <a title=\"Picked First Steakhouse Tomato\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/picked-first-steakhouse-tomato\/\">first few that were picked<\/a> definitely gave me confidence that I would be getting much more in the near future.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>When I went outside today and noticed a few tomatoes that were on the larger size that were not quite ready I got real excited.\u00a0 I also found one that had been ready for a couple of days and plucked it right off the vine.\u00a0 This tomato weighed one and a half pounds all by itself.\u00a0 It was so big that it could barely fit in my hand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-077.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-575\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-077-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"One and a Half Pound Tomato\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-077-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-077.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I sure hope that I get more of these in the future.<\/p>\n<p>I also saw quite a few large cucumbers that I thought were perfect to bring inside.\u00a0 They happened to be hiding underneath the leaves and sometimes I have to dig for them in order to pick them.\u00a0 I found about three that were in perfect shape and had an excellent size to them.<\/p>\n<p>They each came from different plants and that&#8217;s good because now they can continue to grow more of these vegetables throughout the rest of the season.\u00a0 I also have a couple of plants that haven&#8217;t produced any cucumbers yet.\u00a0 When I looked at them today I found about three good sized cucumbers that will be picked next week at the latest.<\/p>\n<p>These are the cucumbers that were harvested today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-088.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-576\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-088-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Three Cucumbers\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-088-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-088.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can see that these are actually quite larger cucumbers than some of the first ones I picked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-092.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-577\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-092-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"One and a Half Pound Cucumber\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-092-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Picture-1-092.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also check my corn and noticed that they are not quite ready yet so I probably will not be eating them by this weekend.\u00a0 I have had plenty of sun this whole week which definitely helped them out quite a bit.\u00a0 I checked the older ears and found that the kernels are still white.<\/p>\n<p>The variety I planted should be completely yellow, so when I find white I know that it isn&#8217;t quite done.\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty
