I didn’t think I would pick as much pole beans as I did today.\u00a0 The pole beans are thriving and there are plenty more of them on all the vines.\u00a0 There were so many that were close to being picked, but instead I decided on leaving them there for the next harvest which should come sometime next week or at the end of this one.<\/p>\n

I even had many tomatoes that were ripe for the picking.\u00a0 They would include all three types.\u00a0 Steakhouse, Roma, and cherry were are all in the peak of the harvest season.<\/p>\n

I first want to talk about my pole beans since this is the title of the blog post.\u00a0 I gathered many beans that I needed three containers in order to place them all into.\u00a0 Before I was half done on one row of them I had filled up one of the containers that I use for harvesting my vegetables.<\/p>\n

When this happened I knew that I was probably going to need a couple more in order to fit the rest into two more containers.\u00a0 Since they are very long I can’t cram them into one container because I like to leave some room for them.\u00a0 I will definitely have to get a bigger harvest container in case this ever happens again.\u00a0 Take a look at home many pole beans I gathered today.<\/p>\n

\"12<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is another view of them.<\/p>\n

They ended up weighing in at 12 and a half pounds of beans and there were approximately about 340 of them!\u00a0 This is the largest harvest of beans that I have collected in one day.\u00a0 With just two twenty foot rows of pole beans<\/a> you can get quite a large harvest.\u00a0 I will have to make certain that I keep on doing this each year.\u00a0 It seems to work for the most part.<\/p>\n

After picking all the beans in the morning I saw that many tomatoes were ready to be harvested and they were as red as they were going to get.\u00a0 Now that I am getting Roma tomatoes it will be soon time to start making sauce with them.\u00a0 That is the main reason that I plant this specific type of tomato.<\/p>\n

They are meatier than other tomatoes and these were a Burpee exclusive that I decided on trying this season.\u00a0 Supposedly they can grow up to two pounds and they have no seeds which can make for a real thick tomato sauce.<\/p>\n

The four of them weighed about two and a half pounds which is not bad.\u00a0 They don’t each weigh two pounds, but they definitely are much bigger than your average Roma tomato.\u00a0 I will make sure that they don’t go to waste.<\/p>\n

I also picked another steakhouse tomato along with plenty of cherry tomatoes.\u00a0 I will probably be picking the cherry ones everyday for quite a while.\u00a0 I have another steakhouse that is about ready to ripen, but instead I just picked one for today.<\/p>\n

A new vegetable that was harvested today were peppers.\u00a0 I know I picked a pepper early in the season, but today I was able to collect three good sized peppers.<\/p>\n

They only weighed a half a pound in total, but peppers usually don’t weigh that much anyway.\u00a0 They are hollow vegetables that are very sweet if you grow them correctly.\u00a0 That is why they are called sweet bell peppers.<\/p>\n

Now today I checked the corn again and they are just not quite ready.\u00a0 It promise it will be real soon when they begin to ripen.\u00a0 I am definitely being careful that I don’t leave them on the stalk too long because they will get hard and tough to eat.\u00a0 I am making sure that I check them on a daily basis at this point because at any moment I will begin harvesting them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
