This week was full of a couple of harvests that included my Roma tomatoes, pole beans, and even a couple of ears of corn.\u00a0 I ended up picking some of my Roma tomatoes that were not quite ready yet, but I have placed them on the windowsill which will make them turn red in the end.\u00a0 I will be using these for sauce instead of anything else.\u00a0 That is exactly what these specialty fruits were made for.<\/p>\n

The one thing that I will discuss in this post is the amount of pole beans that I picked yesterday and going to pick today.\u00a0 I was only able to just do one row that took at least a few hours of time to get as many as possible.\u00a0 This has been the best harvest of 2014 and it doesn’t seem like any other fruit or vegetable will come close to as good of a harvest.<\/p>\n

I was able to pick 25.5 pounds of pole beans in just one day!\u00a0 Not only that but this was all from just one row.\u00a0 Now I might have taken pole beans from the other row as well, but there are many that I left there figuring that I will be able to get them easier when I am on the other side of the trellis.\u00a0 This is something that I will have to do this afternoon.<\/p>\n

I was able to fill up five containers worth of pole beans and actually ran out of large containers to use for this purpose.\u00a0 Since I ran out I decided that I would continue the harvesting of pole beans today.\u00a0 Once I finish this post I will probably end up completing it today.<\/p>\n

Now check out all the beans that I was able to collect from one row in a single day.<\/p>\n

You can probably tell why it took me over a couple of hours to pick all of these beans.\u00a0 Trying to find them and cut them properly can be a tedious process, but luckily it is definitely worth it.<\/p>\n

You can take a look at how healthy the plants look.<\/p>\n

\"Pole<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Pole<\/a><\/p>\n

They are looking very good and I plan on making sure that they stay this way for as long as possible.\u00a0 This way I can get the most out of them before the season is over.<\/p>\n

Now a couple days ago I had plenty of Roma tomatoes that I wanted to make certain that they would ripe as quickly as possible and that is why I brought them inside and placed them in a spot that got sun all day long.\u00a0 This way they ripen quickly and I can have more sauce then if I only used a couple of them that were ripe from being outside.<\/p>\n

I collected about 20 of them so far with several more that are still outside that I will soon bring in for the same purpose.<\/p>\n

There are some above that are regular steakhouse tomatoes, but all the rest are Romas.\u00a0 They are all different sizes, but when making sauce it doesn’t matter how big they are unless you are looking for a large amount of sauce then you will need to have large Romas.<\/p>\n

Here you can see that they are on the windowsill trying to ripen.\u00a0 It will only take a couple of days before they are completely red or close enough that they can be used.<\/p>\n

As you know recently I picked corn<\/a> and took some pictures of the outside of the corn without looking at the kernel part.\u00a0 This past weekend I decided to take some snapshots of some of the corn I was going to cook for consumptions.\u00a0 Here they are:<\/p>\n

They are a decent size even after I removed the husk of the corn.\u00a0 They were definitely delicious and I can’t wait to pick some more and enjoy them.<\/p>\n

On a side note I wanted to mention that I picked some more corn today since I was outside and saw that some of them were ready for eating.\u00a0 I collected 17 of them and they will be eaten once I finish the ears of corn that came before these.\u00a0 It should only take a couple of days to finish them up and by then I should have even more corn to eat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
