{"id":747,"date":"2015-03-17T16:44:37","date_gmt":"2015-03-17T20:44:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/?p=747"},"modified":"2015-03-17T16:50:29","modified_gmt":"2015-03-17T20:50:29","slug":"tomatoes-peppers-and-eggplant-planted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/tomatoes-peppers-and-eggplant-planted\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomatoes, Peppers, and Eggplant Placed in Small Pots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just wanted to let you know that I decided on planting tomatoes a little bit earlier than last season.\u00a0 This year I want to make sure that I get plenty of Roma tomatoes that I can then use to make sauces that I can then store for the Winter.<\/p>\n<p>I thought last years tomatoes were real good and instead of getting all new tomatoes I just purchased the same hybrid seeds I got last season.\u00a0 This includes the <a title=\"Eggplant, Peppers, and Tomatoes Can be Started Indoors\" href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/eggplant-peppers-tomatoes-can-started-indoors\/\">Roma super sauce and Steakhouse varieties<\/a>.\u00a0 If it isn&#8217;t broken then don&#8217;t fix it is what I say.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I also planted cherry tomatoes as well since these are one of my favorite types to put into salads and eat them whole.\u00a0 Each hybrid tomato I placed just one seed in each since I don&#8217;t get that many seeds in a package it only makes sense to use just one per pot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-023.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-748\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-023-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"One Steakhouse Tomato Seed\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-023-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-023.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the only time that I would actually use one seed.\u00a0 Most of the time they come with plenty of seeds that you can put multiple in order to make certain that something will sprout.\u00a0 Cherry tomatoes are the only ones that I placed two seed per container.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-749\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-011-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Two Cherry Tomato Seeds\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-011-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Picture-1-011.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I planted some black beauty eggplant along with California wonder peppers.\u00a0 These are just regular peppers and can be used for many things during the summer.\u00a0 I started them now because last season they didn&#8217;t do that well inside.\u00a0 I want to change that this year.<\/p>\n<p>The eggplant were planted in black plastic pots the exact same ones as the tomatoes.\u00a0 The peppers I decided to use six peat pots because of their sensitive roots.\u00a0 All of these plants were placed under fluorescent lights.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just wanted to let you know that I decided on planting tomatoes a little bit earlier than last season.\u00a0 This year I want to make sure that I get plenty of Roma tomatoes that I can then use to make sauces that I can then store for the Winter.
