Screens from Onions and Plant Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just wanted to keep you up to date on my garden especially on the plant progress that many have gone through.\u00a0 They have been doing quite good over the past couple of weeks now that the sun is out more and the weather is definitely getting warmer.<\/p>\n<p>It is still not time to plant them in the ground, but placing them outside is what I have been doing the past couple of weeks.\u00a0 When the time comes they will be ready to make the transition into the ground with ease.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>One thing I decided to do this week was remove the screens from my onions.\u00a0 They were growing quite well and most of them have sprouted by now and there is no threat of birds eating them now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Picture-1-009.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-795\" and spinach plants have received a boost in growth and are looking quite well.\u00a0 These two plants need plenty of water and I must make sure not to let the soil dry out otherwise spinach plants could bolt and onions may dry out and die.\u00a0 A good layer of mulch can solve this problem easily.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Picture-1-0221.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-797\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Picture-1-0221-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Spinach Plant in Ground\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Picture-1-0221-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Picture-1-0221.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am also getting sprouting from both my melons.\u00a0 It took a while for my watermelons to start sprouting, but after several weeks they are now beginning to grow.\u00a0 Cantaloupe melons only took about a week to see them sprouting.<\/p>\n<p>Watermelon<\/p>\n<p><a plants to just leave only one plant in each container.\u00a0 For now they will continue to grow and weed out the weaker ones later.<\/p>\n<p>My tomatoes are also doing quite well and when May comes around they should be ready for placement into the garden.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t placed them outside for hardening yet because I am waiting for a little bit warmer weather.<\/p>\n<p><a 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alyssum<\/p>\n<p>There are actually two containers of alyssum here, but they have grown quite tall that it looks like just one large container.\u00a0 Some of them are actually starting to get small buds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Picture-1-033.jpg\"><img
