Tilling the Garden and More Spinach Harvesting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a little while since I last made a post, but it has been quite busy nevertheless.\u00a0 First of all I finally completed tilling the garden this evening and it took quite a few days to do this.\u00a0 It took much longer than usual and that was mostly because I was picking up many large rocks in the garden while I was tilling.\u00a0 This took some time to do.<\/p>\n<p>I was hoping to be completed by last week and start planting many of my plants into the ground.\u00a0 That way this week all I would have to do is begin planting seeds that are sown into the ground directly.\u00a0 This includes corn, beans, and carrots.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately that did not happen, but I still have some time to complete what I need to do this week.\u00a0 I will just have to make the most of my time.\u00a0 Utilize the entire day in order to start planting and growing seeds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-091.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-825\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-091-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Garden Tilled\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-091-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-091.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The plant in the middle is just my perennial alyssum that I had planted a few years ago and it has been coming back ever since.\u00a0 It also helps in attracting beneficial insects that are a great help during the garden season.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the alyssum up close.\u00a0 Once they bloom that will be it for the entire year.\u00a0 My annual alyssum plants will bloom continuously until the end of the season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-067.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-826\" 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are the annual alyssum plants starting to flower.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-1-0111.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-827\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-1-0111-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Annual Alyssum Blooming\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-1-0111-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-1-0111.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Spinach has been growing quite well and I have left them to grow larger leaves instead of picking them too early and getting small leaves better for salads.\u00a0 I love the large leaves that are bigger than my hand because those are just perfect for sandwiches.\u00a0 Check them out below.<\/p>\n<p><a src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-051-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Large Spinach Leaf\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-051-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-051.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the largest spinach leaf that I have picked this season.\u00a0 Most of them weren&#8217;t that much smaller, but this one is the king leaf this season.\u00a0 You can see what I mean in the next photo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-083.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-829\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-083-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Spinach http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-2-083.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I picked up about 34 leaves yesterday and they weighed about half a pound.\u00a0 These leaves will definitely last awhile and be put to good use.<\/p>\n<p><a
