{"id":835,"date":"2015-05-11T20:02:54","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T00:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/?p=835"},"modified":"2015-05-11T20:07:10","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T00:07:10","slug":"weeding-around-spinach-plants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/weeding-around-spinach-plants\/","title":{"rendered":"A Good Weeding Around Spinach Plants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As any gardener will tell you weeding is one of the most important and time consuming tasks that a gardener has to take.\u00a0 Once you get the hang of weeding properly it becomes so much easier and it will not take that much time.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately this is something that has to be done from time to time even if you have placed a layer of thick mulch or black plastic to prevent weeds from growing.\u00a0 Weeds will literally grow anywhere.<!--more-->That is basically all I did today was weed around my spinach plants and also my onions.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t have time to weed the onions in totes and instead I weeded the ones in the ground and laid down a thick layer of mulch using grass clippings.<\/p>\n<p>Since there has not been much rain I didn&#8217;t have as much grass clippings as I would normally have.\u00a0 I had to really stretch out the mulch that I did have to place around the onions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-836\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-004-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Before Weeding Spinach\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-004-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-004.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is what it looked like after weeding them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-016.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-837\" src=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-016-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"After Weeding Spinach\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-016-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Picture-3-016.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will probably start weeding the onions in totes sometime tomorrow and the rest of the spinach that I didn&#8217;t get to as well.\u00a0 It shouldn&#8217;t take that long because I did the bulk of it this evening and the rest is very simple.<\/p>\n<p>Right now I am looking forward to start adding plants into the garden and get the ball rolling.\u00a0 I hope to start planting them sometime this week once I get set up and begin digging holes into the garden.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As any gardener will tell you weeding is one of the most important and time consuming tasks that a gardener has to take.\u00a0 Once you get the hang of weeding properly it becomes so much easier and it will not take that much time.
