{"id":98,"date":"2014-03-20T14:37:44","date_gmt":"2014-03-20T18:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/?p=98"},"modified":"2014-03-20T14:38:01","modified_gmt":"2014-03-20T18:38:01","slug":"purchased-vegetable-and-flower-seeds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ericsorganicgarden.com\/blog\/purchased-vegetable-and-flower-seeds\/","title":{"rendered":"Purchased Some More Vegetable and Flower Seeds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spring is officially here and it&#8217;s time to start gearing up for the warmer weather that is about to come in another month or so.\u00a0 It is also time to start preparing the soil for your cold weather plants such as spinach, onions, rhubarb, garlic, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Just wanted to give an update on what I have done the past week and what you should expect in the future.\u00a0 Yesterday I decided to purchase some more seeds including many flower seeds and a couple of vegetables that I will need for the season.<\/p>\n<p>You can never have too many flowers and that is exactly what I did on this last purchase.\u00a0 Burpee was having a free shipping sale and I happened to have a gift card that I wanted to use so I decided on taking advantage of this great offer.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I started by getting some new cucumber and pepper seeds.\u00a0 The seeds I have right now are a little outdated and even though I planted them for this season I am not quite sure that they will sprout.\u00a0 I ended up putting about five to six peppers seeds in each pot and about a similar amount with the cucumber planting.<\/p>\n<p>Although they still might sprout, in the end it is always safer to buy some extra seeds just in case they fail to open.\u00a0 In case they fail to sprout I still have time to plant them again or I could just plant them directly outside without losing much time.\u00a0 This is one good reason that you should plant seeds indoors before the season starts.<\/p>\n<p>I also added some flowers that I thought would be a great addition to my collection this year.\u00a0 Queen anne&#8217;s lace, statice &#8211; mixed colors, alyssum &#8211; carpet of snow, and calendula &#8211; lemon cream were added.\u00a0 These four are some of the best to attract bees and other beneficial insects to your garden.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spring is officially here and it&#8217;s time to start gearing up for the warmer weather that is about to come in another month or so.\u00a0 It is also time to start preparing the soil for your cold weather plants such as spinach, onions, rhubarb, garlic, etc. Just wanted to give &#8230;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-98","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-2014-season","category-beneficial-flowers","column","twocol"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
