Sunflower and Cosmos Seeds Planted

Last updated on

The more flowers in the garden the more chances you have of getting happy honeybees to pollinate your plants.  That is what I was thinking about today and sunflowers are the perfect ones to attract all types of bees including honeybees.

Cosmos are flowers that continuously grow throughout the season and will produce lovely blooms that are high in nectar and will be able to feed some of the most beneficial insects that you will receive.

I used large Dunkin Donut cups for my sunflowers because they grow pretty fast and will need some room for their roots to grow.  The roots should fill up the cup just before I plant them in the garden which is why timing is so important.

I added two seeds into each container making certain that at least one of them will grow.  I will thin them out if they both happen to grow leaving just one sunflower in each container.

Cosmos were planted in large green containers the same ones that were used for my flowers yesterday as well as my watermelon seeds.  I placed several seeds in each container but these I will not thin out if they all grow because they do not take up that much nutrients and will not fight with each other.

I also planted some more Queen Anne’s lace and statice.  I had two more containers left and some room so I planted more important flowers needed for all organic gardens.
