Wildflowers Added to Indoor Planting
Last updated onJust wanted to update you on my progress of planting indoors. This is the first day of planting flowers which will be used throughout the garden.
This is the first time that I will be using the new wildflower mix indoors. I am going to be growing them the same way that I grow my alyssum using large plastic containers that will be able to hold plenty of plants.
Like every other year I like to start my flowers as soon as possible to get them outside quickly before I start planting my spring crop. They normally will go in the ground at the same time I transplant my tomatoes.
For now they will just stay in the windowsill until they begin to grow. When warmer weather approaches I can then slowly begin putting them outside. I will probably do the same thing with these new wildflowers as well.
I was able to use all the alyssum seeds that I had into these containers and actually ran out on the last container. In this case I filled the rest with dill seeds. I remember doing this last season as well and found that it worked out quite well.
I might start planting dill in these containers sometime this week. I might do it tomorrow, but I will definitely finish it by the weekend. I also plan on finishing my planting with cosmos, statice, amaranthus, marigolds/calendula, and queen Anne’s lace.
Only dill will be placed in these large containers and the rest will be put into small to medium pots. I like to plant these flowers singularly rather than in large blocks like alyssum and dill.
On a side note I just cut up the last pumpkin that I had picked back in October. It is great to know exactly how long these pumpkins can last and can use them all the way to the beginning of March.
