Some More Broccoli, Beans, and Peppers
Last updated onThis week was kind of busy for this time of the year with the harvesting of beans, peppers, and broccoli. I was not surprised with broccoli because this is the fall season and I expect them to continue growing and flourishing.
I was most surprised with my beans because I thought I had picked the last of them in the previous harvest. I was going to save the last for seeds, but I noticed that there were actually plenty more to pick. I made sure that I did leaves some of the large pods on the vines because those will be used for next years seeds.
I actually could have filled up two bowls from this harvest, but I was able to cram all the beans into one bowl. I collected 11 pounds of beans which is way more than what I had expected to pick. This is definitely the last harvest of beans for 2015.
Now that my beans are done for the season my peppers are the last vegetables that need to be picked.
Luckily today I was able to pick quite a few and they were of decent size. A total of nine weighing three pounds is what I was able to get from my pepper plants.
Here are a couple of the larger ones that I got today.
The good news is that these are not the last peppers of the season and many more are still growing on the plants. I might be making a couple more trips to the garden for more peppers.
Next on the harvesting front is my broccoli. I have plenty of broccoli that is just so close to harvesting, but not yet. I did pick one head and a few small side shoots of broccoli. I would say within the next week or so I should be seeing plenty more harvests.
Here is what I got from a couple of harvests I did this week.
Here are some of the heads and side shoots that are growing on my plants right now.

Now my garden is down to just my broccoli and my peppers for now. Soon my peppers will be done for the season and then when the ground freezes so will my broccoli. Hopefully the cold weather will hold off until later in the year so I can continue to pick as much broccoli as possible.
