Time to Spring into Action

Now that spring weather is warming up it is time to get gardening right away. Although the month of May was not very cooperative in terms of temperatures June seems to be much more normal. I have pretty much planted everything into the garden from my dill and alyssum to my tomatoes and my spring crop. There were a couple of rain days recently and I wanted to take advantage of that so I moved as fast as I could in order to get all to most of my plants into the ground. There are just a couple of tomatoes that I will have to add to the garden, but for the most part everything is either planted or sowed.

Three Strawberry Harvests Completed This Year

I have finally placed all my plants into the ground with an exception of a couple which will be placed very soon before the end of June. The only successful harvest at the moment has been my strawberries. I have been picking some late broccoli as well, but these are just a few heads and florets. I have some good lettuce that I will start picking soon I just wanted to be sure that the leaves will not turn out bitter. I made certain to do a few consecutive watering with lime to sweeten the soil.

Some of the Last Vegetables to Harvest Before Summer Season is Over

Now that it is the month of October it is time to start focusing on the fall season and finishing up on the summer crops. Production in the summer crops have mostly stopped, but there are some vegetables and fruits that need to be picked before the first frost. Peppers, eggplants, and some tomatoes are what is left from this summer season. Carrots are also another crop that needs to be harvested which usually happens later in the fall.

Beans are Mature Enough for Harvesting Along With Eggplants

This will be quite a long post since I haven’t written one in awhile. Many harvests have been happening over the past several weeks. Some of these harvests include many fruits and vegetables. Many of them are the first for the season such as beans, cantaloupes, and even eggplants. I also have my fall crop in the ground which includes both broccoli and kale. These I will be harvesting far into the fall season and possibly longer depending on the weather.

New Harvest of Beefsteak and Roma Tomatoes and Others Coming Soon

This week there were not that many harvests, but there were two new ones added to the list of already harvesting vegetables. Both beefsteak and Roma tomatoes were picked in the past couple of days. Now it seems all my tomatoes are ready and are ripening in time for an August harvest. Soon I will be picking vegetables such as eggplant, more zucchini, and even some beans.

Summer Harvests are Beginning to Come Through

Now that summer is just about halfway done my crops for this season are starting to ripen. This includes tomatoes, cherry, Roma, and beefsteak along with eggplants, peppers, pumpkins, cantaloupes, watermelons, and more. I also transplanted all my broccoli in the garden in order to achieve a fall crop this year. I also plan on picking some pole beans in the very near future now that I am beginning to see some small beans forming on my plants.

A quick Update on Progress of Garden Plants and Soon to be Harvesting

This is just going to be a quick update on how everything in the garden is going and what are some of the upcoming harvests that will be coming from the garden in the next couple of weeks. At the moment I have been picking zucchini here and there and are the only vegetable that seems to ripen faster than all the others. My lettuce and peas seem to be done for the season and I will be replacing them with broccoli and possibly kale.

Lettuce Done Now on to Summer Plants Such as Tomatoes, Corn, and More

Now it is time to transition into summer growing crops because the spring crops are done for the season for the most part. Lettuce plants are beginning to bolt, potato plants are still growing but are showing signs that they will soon be ready for harvesting, and peas are producing very little if at all. So far I have only harvested two zucchinis from my summer harvests, but soon I will be picking more vegetables and fruit from my summer plants.

Wonderful Harvests Continuing with Strawberries, Lettuce, and More

The garden has been quite well and it looks like I am just about done planting all my summer crop plants for the season. I have already had several harvests of different fruit and vegetables and I have been enjoying their flavor through the past month. There are just a few things I need to do like stake my tomatoes, possibly add mulch to my corn and other plants that would benefit from it, and set up my bean trellis which shouldn’t take that long.

The gardening season is upon us and with June having just arrived this also means June bearing strawberries are beginning to ripen. Now that these strawberries have turned color it is time to start picking them and enjoy their sweet flavor. This marks the very first harvest for the year. I have many other plants that will need to be harvested and I will discuss that in this article.
