Harvesting Broccoli in the Summer This Year

I haven’t harvested much this season at the moment, but there are many more things that are getting ready for harvest time. Tomatoes are producing flowers, beans are climbing the ropes, lettuce is flourishing, and broccoli is next on the list. It is almost the peak of garden season and in about a month I should be harvesting the bulk of the fruits of my labor. (more…)

Strawberries are Ready Along With Radishes

It looks like the very first harvest of the season comes from my strawberries and radishes. It is the month of June and since these are June bearing strawberries it makes sense that they would be ready during this month. Radishes could have been picked earlier, but I still get some good sized vegetables from yesterday’s harvest. (more…)

Latest Flower Transplanting From Container to Garden

With warmer weather arriving it was time to start planting some of the last flower plants into the garden. There are only about a dozen flowers or so that I have left to add and this should be done sometime this week at the latest. Many seeds that I have planted since the last post have begun to sprout including sunflowers, squash, and even cucumbers. (more…)

Strawberry Plants

The Second Year for Strawberry Plants

With weather and temps warming up it was about time to remove the straw from all my strawberry plants and do a little bit of weeding as well.  All the plants survived the winter and most of them are growing well and hopefully will start producing flowers within a month or so for a June harvest. First Row Digging for Peas and Radishes

I have only planted my onions outside, but today it was about time to get some more spring stuff in the ground.  Peas and radishes usually grow well together and I always put them in the same row.  The weather is still cool, but these plants will be able to tolerate these types of temperatures.
