Indoors is the Best Place for Planting Tomatoes

My tomatoes are ready to be started inside along with all my many other plants that I have began to plant.  I will be growing the same types as last season with super sauce, steakhouse, and the wonderful and delicious cherry tomatoes.

Fruit and Vegetable Seed Planting Indoors

It looks like that it is that time already to begin planting the main part of the garden indoors.  Starting indoors I find to be the best solution for getting ahead of the game.  Although space is limited I am still able to grow quite a bit before Spring weather arrives. (more…)

Half of Potatoes Planted

Today I only planted just about half of the potatoes that I had ordered.  I didn’t want to plant all of them just in case the weather coming up is too cold and may have an adverse effect on them.  I will try to plant the rest on a less windy day sometime at the end of March, but before April.

Digging Holes for Potatoes and Cleaning up Debris

Since receiving my potatoes yesterday I needed to clean up the garden and get some holes dug before tomorrow.  Luckily it only rained in the morning so I was able to clean up the garden, fix the net that surrounds the garden, and dig some holes for my potatoes. (more…)

Both Potatoes and Strawberries Arrived Today

I wasn’t expecting my new plants to arrive today because it is still early in the season and it has not warmed up to weather suitable for planting them.  Luckily I probably could plant my potatoes because they will be placed in the ground protected by the soil.  I could possibly plant my strawberries and when cold weather occurs I can cover them with row covers or similar material. Small Pots Used for Growing More Flowers Indoors

Now it is about time to start planting more flowers using small to medium sized pots.  I have used large plastic containers for alyssum, dill, and wildflowers.  These next flower seeds can be placed into smaller pots for individual growing. (more…)

Getting Dill Planted Ahead of Schedule

Instead of waiting for the weekend I wanted to make sure that I got my dill into pots as soon as possible.  I like to plant them around the same time as alyssum.

This weekend I will probably finish up with the other flowers that I need to grow.  These flowers are going to go in small round containers that will only hold a few seeds and plants at the most. (more…)

Wildflowers Added to Indoor Planting

Just wanted to update you on my progress of planting indoors.  This is the first day of planting flowers which will be used throughout the garden.

This is the first time that I will be using the new wildflower mix indoors.  I am going to be growing them the same way that I grow my alyssum using large plastic containers that will be able to hold plenty of plants. (more…)

Waiting for All Lettuce Plants to Sprout

Now that some of my lettuce sprouts have started to pop through the soil soon it will be time to remove some of them and leave only one plant per pot.

I like to wait as long as possible so that I can just do all of them at the same time.  This year it looks like that will not happen and will have to do each pot periodically due to different sprouting rates. (more…)

Getting Started for the New Garden Season

The Winter season went by quite fast and it is already time to begin planting indoors.  This year rather than planting spinach indoors I have decided on beginning with lettuce instead.

I still will be growing spinach, but instead of starting them indoors I will just plant them directly outside when it is time to do so.  I have also decided to plant all four types of lettuce. (more…)
