Transplanting and More Seeds into Rows

The past three days have been quite busy with my plants ready for the ground and seeds that need to be planted as well.  I wanted to get most of my plants in the ground by the weekend and right now I only have a few flowers and a couple squash plants left.

Tomorrow I should finish with all my plants including planting all the seeds needed for a successful garden.  I will be planting some extra seeds of zucchini and pumpkin. (more…)

Update on All Indoor and Outdoor Plants

It’s been awhile since I wrote a post here, but it has been quite busy around here and I want to share with you what has been going on with my garden plants, plants outside, and indoor ones as well.

So far not all of my plants have been outside, but most of my flowers are enjoying the fresh cool air.  Yes it is still a little bit cool which is great for my spinach and onions. (more…)

Indoor Planting of Several Fruits and Vegetables

I have a few things to tell you about that has been happening today.  First off my spinach is staying outside longer and longer and by tomorrow they will be outside for the entire day and night.  This will be a relief because I can soon look forward to finally plant them in the ground.

On another note I have some more seeds starting to sprout and these were the last two that I thought would take a little bit longer to begin with.  Three of my watermelons are showing signs of life and the Queen Anne’s lace has several coming up from the soil. (more…)

Pumpkins are Now Ready For Picking

I thought I was going to wait until October to pick them off the ground and bring them in, but a couple of them looked like they were starting to rot and might not make it until next month.  I had a couple that would have been find until next month, but I would rather pick them all at once.

A total of four pumpkins was harvested this afternoon and I look forward to using them by the end of October.  This is why I grow pumpkins and is something I look forward to each and every season. (more…)

Eggplants Picked and Corn Stalks Removed

Now it is time for my eggplants to begin ripening and I should be picking many more of them in the near future.  I only picked two of them so far, but I still have at least five more growing on six different plants.  Some of them have only flowers while others have either one fruit or multiple eggplants.

The bigger eggplant weighed one and a half pounds and the smaller vegetable one pound.  This is an average size for eggplants and I can still make a good size eggplant Parmesan with these two vegetables. (more…)

Two Bowls Overflowing with Pole Beans

Just a quick post today about some of the vegetables I collected this past week.  The last post I discussed about some beans that I collected which weighed about nine pounds.  This week I actually was able to pick many more than the previous harvest.

I was actually surprised there were much more than before.  I didn’t make any record, but still 13 pounds is pretty good for one harvest.  It was so much that I overfilled two bowls just to get them all in without having to get a third bowl. (more…)

Largest Tomato and Corn Harvest of 2015

The climax of the season is coming to a head and with the large harvests of corn and tomatoes I think that the season is starting to come to a close.  There is always a busy part of the season where I collect the most vegetables and fruit.  It looks like the past two weeks are the max I will get from my garden.

This not only includes corn and tomatoes which I collected this week, but with all the melons I picked around the same time, cucumbers, zucchini, and the pumpkins which I will be harvesting very soon. (more…)

Multiple Harvests of Fruits and Vegetables Today

Rather than collecting just one or two types of fruits or vegetables I decided on picking everything that looked ripe.  This includes zucchini, beans, cucumbers, peppers, cantaloupe, and even cherry tomatoes.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to pick some more corn yesterday, but I decided to wait until this afternoon to pick some more ears.  Most of them should be ready by now or at least ripe enough to be considered for consumption. (more…)

Broccoli in The Ground and Many More Beans

This week was another busy week with planting all 47 broccoli plants I had into the ground.  There were actually a few that were cabbage instead of broccoli and those were planted away from my broccoli.  This is just not to confuse them with each other because they both sprout the same.

Once the cabbage begins growing its head and broccoli plants start creating a large stalk it will become noticeable which is which.  Placing them separately is just an easier way of knowing which is broccoli and which ones are cabbage. (more…)

First Harvest of Corn, Cantaloupe, and Some More Tomatoes

It has been very busy this week especially with all new harvests of corn and cantaloupes.  The cantaloupe was nearly by accident because I wanted to check out the connection between the melon and the vine and when I turned it over it just came right off.  Good thing the melon was pretty much ready anyways.

The other cantaloupe that I picked was coming off from the vine so I just decided on removing it since it was going to come done at any moment.  No reason to leave it on the vine like that. (more…)
