Harvested The Two Largest Eggplants in My Entire Life

I have been continuously been picking tomatoes throughout the summer and have finally been getting Romas pretty much at the same time. Beefsteak tomatoes have been quite large along with my cherries and Romas. I had so many Romas last week that I decided it was time to make some tomato sauce for Winter storage. I collected over 20 pounds of Roma tomatoes which is plenty for a large batch of tomato sauce. I made 15 quarts of sauce that I will save for the winter which will make delicious and excellent meals.

Zucchini, Cucumbers, and Even Corn Harvested

Now it is harvest time with several plants that are ripening with many vegetables for hopefully a good continuous harvest. I hope that these plants continue to grow and thrive as long as the weather is good they should produce a good crop for the season. Corn will eventually end much sooner than the rest of my garden, but I am going to enjoy whatever corn is picked. There are some others that are almost ready to pick such as tomatoes and possibly an eggplant real soon. I also have many pepper plants with peppers growing on them and they should start being harvested as well.

Many Vegetable Harvest are on The Way This Year

Right now there are many harvests that are going to be coming very soon now that most of my plants are producing flowers and fruit. I have so far been picking mostly my strawberries and kale. My strawberries are all done for the season and my kale continues to grow and as long as it produces more leaves I will harvest them. Some of the plants started to go to seed, but I was able to catch it time and cut off the bolting part of the plant. Let’s get into what I will be picking in the near future from my garden.

The Latest Harvesting: Tomatoes, Beans, and Green Peppers

It’s been a long time since my last post, but I am still gardening and have some more harvests to discuss in this article. So far I have finished harvesting my radishes which were done a couple of months ago. My lettuce is also finished and once the hot weather came they were no longer able to produce new leaves and eventually turned brown. Peas did not do well this season and now that summer is here they are done as well. With a new weather season means new harvests to do and more vegetables to pick for the next couple of months until the next season, fall.

One Last Spring Crop Left to be Transplanted and Some Summer Seeds Planted

Weather for the month of May has been rather cold for transplanting summer crops such as tomatoes and peppers. It has been good for planting cold weather crops such as potatoes, onions, spinach, peas, radishes, sunflowers, dill, alyssum, lettuce, and broccoli. All these plants are now in the garden and the last spring crop that needs to be transplanted to the garden would be carrots. These are growing in peat pots so planting them should be quick and easy.

New Harvest of Beefsteak and Roma Tomatoes and Others Coming Soon

This week there were not that many harvests, but there were two new ones added to the list of already harvesting vegetables. Both beefsteak and Roma tomatoes were picked in the past couple of days. Now it seems all my tomatoes are ready and are ripening in time for an August harvest. Soon I will be picking vegetables such as eggplant, more zucchini, and even some beans.

When Harvests Arrive They Come with Abundance

It looks like the peak of the harvest season has arrived this summer. I have been picking vegetables such as cucumbers, corn, zucchini, peppers, and hopefully real soon will be my tomatoes. I have melons and pumpkins that are growing and should start picking them this month. Along with harvesting my vegetables I will be placing my broccoli transplants into the garden very soon. This will be for a fall harvest once the cooler weather arrives in a couple of months or so.

A quick Update on Progress of Garden Plants and Soon to be Harvesting

This is just going to be a quick update on how everything in the garden is going and what are some of the upcoming harvests that will be coming from the garden in the next couple of weeks. At the moment I have been picking zucchini here and there and are the only vegetable that seems to ripen faster than all the others. My lettuce and peas seem to be done for the season and I will be replacing them with broccoli and possibly kale.

Melons and Pumpkins Ready for Harvesting

With lower temperatures arriving and less sunlight in the daytime plants are beginning to finish off the season with the last production of fruit. Broccoli, brussel sprouts, and kale will continue through the fall and the rest will be done by the first frost of the season sometime in the near future. Right now I can still harvest some fruits and vegetables such as beans, pumpkins, and some melons that are done growing. (more…)

It Looks Like The Peak of Tomato Season Has Arrived

I have been picking all of my tomatoes for the past month with the cherry tomato plants continuing to produce with flowers and tons of fruit. Last week I had picked over three hundred cherry tomatoes from just one harvest. I thought that was a lot until today when I happened to pick just under 500 of them! The funny thing is that there are still many plants out there with many more cherry tomatoes to pick. (more…)
