Complete Weeding of Garden and Last of Tomatoes Planted
Last updated onThe past two days have been quite busy especially with all the weeding I had to do through the entire garden. The bad thing about getting rain is all the weeds that grow real fast around the plants. If you do not keep an eye on your plants these weeds can easily overpower any plant making for a real poor harvest.
Not only was I able to get most of the weeding completed I even had time to finally plant the rest of the tomatoes into the ground. They were part of the later crop, but they should be able to produce enough tomatoes with the time that they should have left in the season.
Before I started weeding I wanted to take a before and after shot of the garden so that I can see the difference between the two conditions. A garden with many weeds doesn’t look as professional or good as one that has little or no weeds at all. I was able to get most of the garden weeded except for the zucchini and pumpkin section.
The good news is that the zucchini and pumpkin plants are able to block out much of the sun with their large leaves making them a poor place for leaves to grow. The ones that are able to thrive are simple to pull out because of the now dry soil. Now that July is almost here the only time I will receive a rain shower is with a quick thunderstorm. July is always the driest month of the year here.
I tried to take some good before and after pictures of the garden which you can see below.

Here are the last tomatoes that I planted into the garden this week. These are all the super sauce hybrid tomatoes that are just larger than normal Roma tomatoes.

Keeping my garden free of weeds really makes it look nice because all you can see is the plants that you have grown throughout this season. I can easily see where everything is without having to search for them through tall and dense weeds.
I also have an update on the zucchini that will be the first picked this year. It is getting quite big and it is approaching its maximum size.
I also discovered that I may be getting a pumpkin real soon as well. Although like zucchini it will take a couple of days before I know if the flower was pollinated. Check it out below.
Also one of the sunflower plants will be opening up very soon.
