Planted Dill Indoors

Ready for Gardening in 2022?

Welcome back to a new year and the new gardening season of 2022.  Hopefully this year will be an exciting season with some new plants arriving and some new supplies I will be utilizing for a great and bountiful crop.  Last year was a very unusual season with plentiful rain and water for my plants.  This year is looking to be a more normal summer with very little rain and hot temperatures.  I can now really test out my new watering system using soaker hoses.  It was tough last year with all the rain, but I am looking forward to see if they can keep up with the possible lack of rain.  Not having to water my plants daily does save me some time and focus on other aspects of gardening.

Using Coconut Husk Pellets for Planting Summer Seed Crop

I tried planting seeds into coconut husks last season, but they didn’t seem to work that well. This was probably due to using old husk pellets that I had for about five years. This year I bought brand new pellets and they expanded like they are supposed to and have planted a variety of summer crop seeds into all 72 plant cells. This particular tray is able to water the soil and seeds automatically with the proper amount of moisture per cell.

Spinach, Lettuce, and Kale Getting Ahead for the Spring

It is now 2021 and it is that time of the season when I start planting seeds for the springtime temperatures that will arrive in a couple of months. In the meantime I can get them started in pots so once warmer temperatures are here they will be ready to be transported into the garden. This year I decided to stick to a few seeds of spinach, lettuce, and kale.

New Seeds Added to Containers For Indoor Sprouting

I wanted to get started with some more seed sprouting indoors now that some time has passed and spring is upon us. Although it is too cold to plant outside I can still get some seeds ready for transplanting when the time is right. I thought it would be best to get all my tomatoes out of the way and start planting my new habanero and Carolina reaper pepper seeds as well. Some long maturing plants such as eggplant were planted and I also got a couple of broccoli seeds in pots for spring growing.

Looking Towards a Fresh Spring Start

This year I hope to be an interesting one with a few new plants that I am going to try out for the first time. I plan on having a larger than normal spring crop with plenty of plants including spinach, eight different types of lettuce, potatoes, peas, radishes, and maybe even some broccoli and many more. I haven’t planned it all out yet, but I am hoping to get all of these plants into the garden as soon as spring comes around and temps begin to rise.

Setting Lettuce, Broccoli, Spinach and other Spring Seeds into Containers

Now it is mid march and it is time to get as many seeds into containers as possible starting with springtime crops in the beginning. Later I will start to plant others such as tomatoes, melons, and much more. At the meantime I need to get my spring seeds at least started and when it is time to put them outside for hardening purposes I will then get others seeds indoors potted.

Yea! It is the First Post For the New Garden Season

A new start to the 2018 garden season with some new plantings that I will be starting inside and some outside when the time is right. I have begun planting some things indoors like flowers that include my alyssum and some dill. I have some large containers that they will start in before eventually transplanting them into the garden for maximum potential. (more…)
