Last Vegetable Seeds for Indoor Planting

Now that I have most of the plants that I need planted indoors it is time to start the two last ones of the season.  I used peat pots to plant up to six seeds of zucchini and pumpkins.  My squash plants are always the last to be planted indoors. (more…)

Indoors is the Best Place for Planting Tomatoes

My tomatoes are ready to be started inside along with all my many other plants that I have began to plant.  I will be growing the same types as last season with super sauce, steakhouse, and the wonderful and delicious cherry tomatoes.

Small Pots Used for Growing More Flowers Indoors

Now it is about time to start planting more flowers using small to medium sized pots.  I have used large plastic containers for alyssum, dill, and wildflowers.  These next flower seeds can be placed into smaller pots for individual growing. (more…)

Getting Started for the New Garden Season

The Winter season went by quite fast and it is already time to begin planting indoors.  This year rather than planting spinach indoors I have decided on beginning with lettuce instead.

I still will be growing spinach, but instead of starting them indoors I will just plant them directly outside when it is time to do so.  I have also decided to plant all four types of lettuce. (more…)

Spinach Sprouting and Dill Planted in Large Containers

Not long after planting my alyssum this week I noticed that my spinach seeds were beginning to sprout.  I didn’t think they would sprout within a week of planting them, but I am not complaining.  This is much better than having them not sprout at all.

The earlier they begin to grow the faster that they can get to a good size before planting them outside.  Since they sprouted sooner this means that they will be planted in the ground much sooner or at least until I can work the soil. (more…)

Alyssum Seeds are Next for Planting Indoors

Now that March has arrived it is the best time to start growing the majority of plants that I need indoors.  Right now I do have spinach planted and although they have not sprouted yet, I am sure that they will soon protrude through the soil in a week or so.

I always like to get my flower seeds planted right away because they need a good head start so when it is time to place them in the ground they will be flowering or close to flowering.  This way they will flower for the rest of the season without having to worry about them. (more…)
