New Seeds Added to Containers For Indoor Sprouting

Last updated on

I wanted to get started with some more seed sprouting indoors now that some time has passed and spring is upon us. Although it is too cold to plant outside I can still get some seeds ready for transplanting when the time is right. I thought it would be best to get all my tomatoes out of the way and start planting my new habanero and Carolina reaper pepper seeds as well. Some long maturing plants such as eggplant were planted and I also got a couple of broccoli seeds in pots for spring growing.

This season I planted quite a few different types of peppers. As I mention I purchased a couple of hot types that I wanted to try and I have some from last season that were still good. Some of the other peppers include Jupiter, Chinese giant, and crispy hybrid. If they all sprout I will definitely have plenty of pepper plants for the entire season.

With my tomatoes I stuck with the usual plan by growing some cherry tomatoes and beefsteak with plenty of seeds of super sauce Romas planted. I stuck with the Chadwick cherry tomatoes and planted a couple of different beefsteak types. Rutgers and sandwich slice hybrid were the two beefsteaks that I found in the store that look interesting to grow.

I also said I planted some broccoli that I thought I would grow during the spring time instead of waiting for the fall. I planted some made for cool weather and the sun king hybrid that is perfect for the heat of the summer. I have grown them before with some success and hope to do so again this season.

Eggplant was another seed placed in small pots indoors. I like to get them into pots right away because they do take quite awhile to get fruits during the summer. They require at least 100 days to start producing fruit on the plant and more time to get bigger.

I also placed some flower seeds into pots as well. I thought it would be a good idea to get as many flowers as possible for the springtime in order to attract those insects I will need. Some cosmos and marigolds is what I decided on planting yesterday. I might plant some more containers with wildflowers because I can never have enough insect attracting flowers.
