Transplanted Spinach into the Garden

Spring Transplants Have Been Seated into the Soil

The first phase of transplanting spring crops into the garden started earlier in the week with spinach, some lettuce, and a few Brassica plants. I still have a whole tray full of various plants (mostly lettuce) that I plan to get into the soil before the week is over. Radish and pea seeds have sprouted and I will start thinning them out very soon and possibly weeding them.

Planting In the Rain and Update on Outdoor Garden Plants

Sorry for the long period for a blog post, but I have plenty of things to discuss. This month has brought many rain storms and really windy days and made it difficult to till some of the garden soil and get some spring seeds planted. I finally had a good day to get the soil mixed this week and decided to plant peas, radishes, and sunflowers today even though it was cloudy, rainy, and windy. I couldn’t wait any longer to get these seeds into the ground.

Strawberry Plants

The Second Year for Strawberry Plants

With weather and temps warming up it was about time to remove the straw from all my strawberry plants and do a little bit of weeding as well.  All the plants survived the winter and most of them are growing well and hopefully will start producing flowers within a month or so for a June harvest. Digging Holes for Potatoes and Cleaning up Debris

Since receiving my potatoes yesterday I needed to clean up the garden and get some holes dug before tomorrow.  Luckily it only rained in the morning so I was able to clean up the garden, fix the net that surrounds the garden, and dig some holes for my potatoes. (more…)
