Cantaloupes, Tomatoes, Peppers, and Last of Pole Beans

Last updated on

It looks like the season is coming to an end with not many fruits and vegetables left to pick.  I have a couple of eggplants, peppers, and some tomatoes still growing, but for the most part it is pretty much done for 2016.

The good news is that I have a fall harvest of broccoli, kale, and cabbage to look forward to.  I also still have three watermelons in the garden that are going to need to be harvested real soon as well.  I would guess that I will be picking them sometime this month at the latest hopefully.

Speaking of watermelon I was able to pick one of these melons because the plant had turned brown and was no longer helping the watermelon.  This is when I like to pick them each season.  The first one is the smallest watermelon that I happened to grow this year.  The others are much bigger, but this is a good one for a first harvest.

First Watermelon Picked

Since we are talking about melons I think I would mention about my cantaloupes which are just about done.  I picked two more of them this week and now there is only one left ripening at the moment.  I think I should be picking it really soon before the cool weather comes.

Two More Cantaloupes and Last Cucumber

I also picked the very last cucumber of the year as well.  My cucumber plants gave me plenty of fruit and was very glad to have as much as I did.

Today some more cherry tomatoes and a Roma tomato were harvested along with peppers and the very last of the pole beans.  I have taken down all my pole bean plants and probably sometime this week I will be taking down the bean trellis.

My peppers are actually growing quite well and there are many more on the plants that I will have to pick in the very near future.  I will let them grow as far as they can and then start picking most of them.
