Getting the Most Lettuce Leaves Harvested

It was a busy day today with many transplants going into the garden including alyssum, amaranthus, calendula, marigolds, statice, cosmos, queen Anne’s lace, wildflowers, and even corn flowers.  I also had a busy day Thursday picking all the lettuce that I could. (more…)

Many Things Happening in The Garden

It has been quite awhile since I wrote my last blog post, but weather has not been cooperating and many things needed to be completed before the month of June.  In this post I will fill you in on what has been going on including some updates on my plants. (more…)

Getting Most Flowers Transplanted to Garden

Today was more about transplanting my flowers to the garden.  They have been outside for a little bit short of a month and that is plenty of time to be sure that the weather will not affect them from here on till the end of the season.  I got all my dill, wildflowers, and some alyssum added to the garden. (more…)

Digging Holes for Potatoes and Cleaning up Debris

Since receiving my potatoes yesterday I needed to clean up the garden and get some holes dug before tomorrow.  Luckily it only rained in the morning so I was able to clean up the garden, fix the net that surrounds the garden, and dig some holes for my potatoes. (more…)

Small Pots Used for Growing More Flowers Indoors

Now it is about time to start planting more flowers using small to medium sized pots.  I have used large plastic containers for alyssum, dill, and wildflowers.  These next flower seeds can be placed into smaller pots for individual growing. (more…)

Getting Dill Planted Ahead of Schedule

Instead of waiting for the weekend I wanted to make sure that I got my dill into pots as soon as possible.  I like to plant them around the same time as alyssum.

This weekend I will probably finish up with the other flowers that I need to grow.  These flowers are going to go in small round containers that will only hold a few seeds and plants at the most. (more…)

Wildflowers Added to Indoor Planting

Just wanted to update you on my progress of planting indoors.  This is the first day of planting flowers which will be used throughout the garden.

This is the first time that I will be using the new wildflower mix indoors.  I am going to be growing them the same way that I grow my alyssum using large plastic containers that will be able to hold plenty of plants. (more…)

Start of Lettuce Harvesting

Today was the first day of harvesting lettuce and only my iceberg lettuce for now.  I will most likely start picking my Ruby glow hybrid in another week or so.  I will have to pick them before they begin to go to seed.

I also planted some flowers in the garden this past week.  I had some flowers that I had not planted in the garden and since they were beginning to outgrow their containers I needed to place them in various places throughout the garden. (more…)

Transplanting and More Seeds into Rows

The past three days have been quite busy with my plants ready for the ground and seeds that need to be planted as well.  I wanted to get most of my plants in the ground by the weekend and right now I only have a few flowers and a couple squash plants left.

Tomorrow I should finish with all my plants including planting all the seeds needed for a successful garden.  I will be planting some extra seeds of zucchini and pumpkin. (more…)

Placing Lettuce in the Garden with Some Seed Planting

Now that the entire garden has been tilled I wanted to get as much into the ground as possible.  This includes seeds such as corn and beans that need to be planted before June.  I also got most of my flowers into the ground which is another important element of my garden.

I still have plants that I have not had the chance to place in the garden, but most of these are just transplants of fruits and vegetables.  I will hope to finish them sometime this week. (more…)
