Some Cucumbers and a Few Good Things Happening in the Garden

Last updated on

I had some more cucumbers that were ready for some harvesting and they were a good size as well. I had a couple of large ones and a few average sized cucumbers that I could use for many different things. These were just cucumbers and pickles will be coming very soon and hopefully plenty of them.

Today was the only harvest this week for cucumbers or any other vegetable. I have some blueberries that I need to pick and some pole beans as well, but for now I have just stuck with vegetables that needed to be picked today.

My pickle plants are growing fruit and they have plenty of flowers which suggests that I will have many to pick in the month of August and possibly beyond. They are not quite ready yet, but in a couple of weeks I am sure I will start picking them as well. They don’t get as big as my straight eight so it won’t be long before I begin harvesting them as well.

Some good news is that one of my cherry tomatoes is beginning to ripen. This means that if there is one starting to ripen I should soon begin to see all the others ripen as well. Once one starts turning red then they all start. For now I have only seen one cherry tomato, but I am sure that my steakhouse and Romas will soon follow.

I am also beginning to see some cantaloupes growing on my melon vines. At the moment it looks like only one vine has the fruit, but all the others are getting flowers which means it is a matter of time before they start getting fruit as well.

This is the only melon plant for now that is producing fruit.  I still have watermelons, honeydew, and many more cantaloupe plants that will hopefully start producing their own fruit soon.
