Melons Appearing and Harvests are to be Made

Last updated on

It looks like many of my fruit and vegetables are starting to appear within the garden and some harvests will have to be done real soon. I have already harvested a zucchini last week and I have a few more in the garden that are just about done. I also have tomatoes that are beginning to turn and some corn that is just about ready for picking. Let’s discuss some of the harvests that I did this past week.

Aside from another blueberry harvest last week I also dug up all my onions and had them dry out before bringing them inside and using them. Thirty pounds of onions were picked this season which includes both red and yellow.

Earlier in the week my corn was looking like it was time to start picking them. I picked one in the beginning of the week and I picked another one today. I was hoping most of them were going to be ready before the weekend. It looks like I will start picking most of them probably on Sunday. They are very close to harvesting and they do not need that much more time for ripening.

Beans were another vegetable that was ready in the early part of the week. I did not harvest them until this afternoon because I wouldn’t have had that much to pick. Doing the harvest today was a much better choice and I had much more to pick. Three and a half pounds is what I got today.

At the moment I have some melons growing including a crimson sweet and possibly a vining peach which is something new I grew. I also have a couple of pumpkins that are growing on the vine as well. Cucumbers and peppers are coming through as well. I am hoping that I will start picking tomatoes in the near future. For now cherry and Roma tomatoes will be picked first.
