Flowers, Vegetables, and Fruits Coming Soon

It looks like I will be harvesting some fruits and vegetables soon in addition to the ones that I have already been picking.  So far blueberries, lettuce, and peas have been harvested and most of my Spring crop is all but finished.  I have picked a third harvest of blueberries and still more bushes need to be picked. The Season Starts Off With Lettuce Leaves

Cool season lettuce is the first leaves to be harvested this year.  Normally spinach is first, but lettuce is just as good and can be used for many dishes.  It is always to have lettuce fresh from the garden for salads because this way you can enjoy the full flavor of your hard work. (more…)

Getting Most Flowers Transplanted to Garden

Today was more about transplanting my flowers to the garden.  They have been outside for a little bit short of a month and that is plenty of time to be sure that the weather will not affect them from here on till the end of the season.  I got all my dill, wildflowers, and some alyssum added to the garden. Starting Tilling of Garden and Planting First Corn Seeds

It is pretty much the month of May once this day is over and that means it is time for tilling.  This obviously depends on the weather and normally I plan to till the garden in the month of May, but usually not the first day of the month.  This year was a little bit different and I wanted to start as soon as possible. Last Vegetable Seeds for Indoor Planting

Now that I have most of the plants that I need planted indoors it is time to start the two last ones of the season.  I used peat pots to plant up to six seeds of zucchini and pumpkins.  My squash plants are always the last to be planted indoors. (more…)

Radishes and Peas Now Sprouting

A quick update on some of the seeds I had planted in the garden a couple of weeks ago.  Both my peas and radishes are now showing signs of life with some sprouting within the rows.  Let’s take a look at what they look like when they first pop up through the soil. (more…)
