Small Harvest with Cucumbers and a Few More Zucchinis

I picked one cucumber this past Saturday, but I knew I would be picking more today so I decided to wait to write a post until I picked all the cucumbers that were ready. I also had some more zucchinis that were at the right size and decided to pick them as well. (more…)

Flowers, Vegetables, and Fruits Coming Soon

It looks like I will be harvesting some fruits and vegetables soon in addition to the ones that I have already been picking.  So far blueberries, lettuce, and peas have been harvested and most of my Spring crop is all but finished.  I have picked a third harvest of blueberries and still more bushes need to be picked. Looking Towards Harvesting Fruits and Vegetables

So far things are going good and plants are beginning to produce some food including both fruits and vegetables.  There are some tomatoes and zucchini that are beginning to show themselves.  These are the only two plants that will most likely start the summer harvesting season. (more…)

The Start of April Means Planting Onions and Lettuce

Sunny skies and warm weather means it is time to start planting onions and some other cold weather plants including lettuce.  Although it is the beginning of April there still might be some cold days ahead.  All that is needed is some row covers to protect your plants from a late frost. (more…)

Indoors is the Best Place for Planting Tomatoes

My tomatoes are ready to be started inside along with all my many other plants that I have began to plant.  I will be growing the same types as last season with super sauce, steakhouse, and the wonderful and delicious cherry tomatoes.

Biggest Watermelon Picked Along with Kale, Peppers, and More

Getting the most out of the garden is the most important part of gardening.  This season I think I did just that with all the fruits and vegetables that I have picked and still harvesting.  With the largest watermelon that I have ever grown I think I have definitely accomplished my objective.

I don’t have much vegetables left except for mainly my fall crops.  I have been picking my kale lately and they are growing very large leaves which will make for some great kale soup this winter.  I have been making sure to store them in order to use them later. (more…)

Cantaloupes, Tomatoes, Peppers, and Last of Pole Beans

It looks like the season is coming to an end with not many fruits and vegetables left to pick.  I have a couple of eggplants, peppers, and some tomatoes still growing, but for the most part it is pretty much done for 2016.

The good news is that I have a fall harvest of broccoli, kale, and cabbage to look forward to.  I also still have three watermelons in the garden that are going to need to be harvested real soon as well.  I would guess that I will be picking them sometime this month at the latest hopefully. (more…)

The Last Summer Harvests of 2016

It is that time of the year where the harvests are getting smaller and smaller and cleanup of most of the garden will commence.  I still have a few melons, tomatoes, and eggplants still growing, but for the most part they will not be that big of a harvest.

The good news is that now we are going into the fall where my broccoli, cabbage, and kale can thrive in the cool weather.  I will be soon starting to pick harvests from them.  I will give them another month before I actually start thinking about harvesting them. (more…)

The Last Large Harvest of Pole Beans

It looks like most of my garden plants are winding down and no longer producing any more flowers or fruits.  My tomatoes are probably the last plants that are still growing fruit and I think I have just a few more harvests from them.

My bean plants are pretty much done for the season and today I just picked the last large harvest of pole beans.  It wasn’t as big as past years, but it is definitely a good amount to store over the winter. (more…)
