Zucchinis are Ready and Cucumbers Around the Corner

Last updated on

It is that time when many vegetables are ready for picking. Zucchinis are sometimes the first to be ready, but they are not always first. It looks like my cucumbers and some pickles are going to be done at the same time.

There were three zucchinis ready for harvesting today. Once they get to a good size it is time to remove them from the plant. As you can see from mine I like to leave them on the plant in order to get them as big as possible. It still makes for a great meal if you know how to properly cook them.

My cucumbers are just about ready and I will give them a little bit more time to make sure that the plants absorb the recent lime I gave them. In order to make certain that your fruit is sweet and juicy lime is what you need to apply.

If I didn’t add lime many times the cucumbers or the skin can taste a little bitter. Having bitter cucumbers is something I am trying to avoid. After all I want to enjoy eating these vegetables.

I also noticed that some pickle cucumbers are also growing today.

Tomatoes are still growing and I am getting many flowers which hopefully means many more fruit is on the way. Cherries are always the first to ripen and then it is between Romas and steakhouse. They are both big tomatoes so it does take a little bit more time for them to fully ripen.

It also looks like one of my pumpkin vines has a pumpkin already. I think it has been pollinated, but as usual time will determine whether or not it will continue to grow. It is the only one I have for now, but hopefully more will come from all my other pumpkin vines.
