Growing Progress of Pumpkins, Tomatoes, Cucumbers and More

Last updated on

Just wanted to write a short post about the progress of many of my plants that include zucchini, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers, and even my watermelons.  I am also going to be discussing my beans that are finally starting to produce as well as eggplants starting to flower.

Today I did happen to pick up another zucchini which makes this the second zucchini to be harvested this year.  Other vegetables and fruits will be picked very soon once they begin to mature and ripen.

As of last week I only had two pumpkins that were growing from the same vine.  I now have found three more growing from the second transplanted plant.  The pumpkins grown directly in the soil are still growing, but have not produced any flowers yet.  I am sure that soon they will begin to have flowers and fruit growing from the vine.

Here are the first three pumpkins that I know have been pollinated.

I also have two more that I am not sure have been pollinated yet.  Check them out below.

The one below is still flowering so I will not know for a couple of days if it has been pollinated.

I have plenty of zucchinis that are flowering and producing fruit.  As long as the bees do their job I am sure that I will get plenty more harvests this month and next.

I have found my first watermelon fruit of the season.  Unfortunately it happened to flower during a cloudy day and I have found that they don’t get pollinated during cloudy days.  Now at the moment I am not sure if it has been pollinated, but I am not worried because it will continue to produce fruit until one of them gets pollinated.  I will just have to wait and see.

So far only one of the watermelon vines actually has a flowering fruit.  I am sure the others will begin to produce fruit as well in a few days or weeks.

I am definitely looking forward to start picking my tomatoes, but at the moment they are still green and getting bigger.  I think the first tomato that will be picked will be my steakhouse tomatoes.

Cucumbers are also starting to produce many fruits that are flowering.  I have one vine that has probably produced at least ten flowering cucumbers, but not many of them have been pollinated.  I am sure in due time they will eventually be pollinated once a sunny day comes around.

I do have at least one cucumber that was pollinated recently because it is getting bigger each and everyday.

This is when I first saw that a cucumber had been pollinated.

This is day two of the same pollinated cucumber.  You can tell a little bit that it is getting bigger.  If I was to have a sunny day it would be much more noticeable.

Beans are beginning to take off as well.  They started producing flowers about a week or two ago and now I am starting to finally see small beans.

The last plants I want to talk about are my eggplants.  The first flower has appeared on only one of the plants so far.  The others are very close to producing flowers and it wouldn’t surprise me if they started getting flowers in the next couple of days.

You don’t want to touch any of these flowers without wearing gloves.

The ones below are just a cluster of eggplant flowers that will probably start to open in a couple of weeks.
