The beginning of harvesting corn for 2022

Corn is The Latest Vegetable to be Harvested in the Month of August

A little bit less than half of the corn this week has been harvested with many more ears of corn not quite ready yet. The ones that I have harvested this year look to be quite good in size and hopefully in taste once I bite into a couple of them. Today was the first harvest of corn and was able to pick 15 ears of corn that weighed 7 1/2 lbs after the husks were removed from them. I think there are at least double that still growing on the stalks.

Beans are Mature Enough for Harvesting Along With Eggplants

This will be quite a long post since I haven’t written one in awhile. Many harvests have been happening over the past several weeks. Some of these harvests include many fruits and vegetables. Many of them are the first for the season such as beans, cantaloupes, and even eggplants. I also have my fall crop in the ground which includes both broccoli and kale. These I will be harvesting far into the fall season and possibly longer depending on the weather.

It Looks Like The Peak of Tomato Season Has Arrived

I have been picking all of my tomatoes for the past month with the cherry tomato plants continuing to produce with flowers and tons of fruit. Last week I had picked over three hundred cherry tomatoes from just one harvest. I thought that was a lot until today when I happened to pick just under 500 of them! The funny thing is that there are still many plants out there with many more cherry tomatoes to pick. (more…)

Large Eggplant

A Couple Eggplants and Several Large Steakhouse Tomatoes

This past week has been more about tomatoes than anything else in the garden. I have been picking tons of cherry tomatoes, some Roma tomatoes that were made into sauce, and several steakhouse tomatoes that weigh about one pound or more each. I also picked the first two eggplants of the season along with some beans and a couple of cucumbers. Let’s take a look at all my garden produce harvested this week. (more…)

Steady Harvesting of All Tomato Types and Much More

It seems that it is about that time where harvesting becomes almost a daily venture. I would say that I have been picking all tomato types this week at least every other day. Most of my tomatoes are starting to turn and ripen along with beans and cucumbers. The large Roma and steakhouse tomatoes have finally started to bring in small harvests at the moment. Soon I will have plenty of Roma tomatoes to get some sauce going for winter storage. (more…)

Those Ears of Corn are Now Ripe Enough for Harvesting

That is correct most of my corn is now ready to be picked while others still need just a little bit more time. Today was actually the start of harvests from corn, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Now that most of my blueberries have been picked it is now time to focus on other fruits and vegetables that may be ready for harvesting. (more…)

Some of The Last Vegetables That are Still Growing

So far the real cool weather has not arrived and that means that I should still see production from some of the plants that are still left. For instance my beans are producing another set of beans and I should have a larger harvest than what was displayed today. (more…)

Roma Tomato Harvests May Be Stopping Very Soon

I still have Roma tomatoes to pick, but after today I am certain that there is not that many harvests these plants have left. I would say that the best fruit from these plants are done and with the largest harvest to date I would say this is the peak or end of my tomato season. (more…)
