The Last Large Harvest of Pole Beans
Last updated onIt looks like most of my garden plants are winding down and no longer producing any more flowers or fruits. My tomatoes are probably the last plants that are still growing fruit and I think I have just a few more harvests from them.
My bean plants are pretty much done for the season and today I just picked the last large harvest of pole beans. It wasn’t as big as past years, but it is definitely a good amount to store over the winter.
Earlier in the week I had harvested quite a few eggplants including the largest one of the entire year. Most of them were small to medium size except for one which was bigger than I thought it was until I picked it this week.
Today I got about a total of 12 pounds of beans which is probably one of the last good harvests that I will get out of them this season. I thought I would have had more, but I still got enough to enjoy through the fall and winter months.
I also got some more tomatoes which include all three of them. Most of my tomatoes have probably stopped producing, but they still have tomatoes on the plant which I will be harvesting the next couple of weeks. Not many new flowers are on the plants.
I also got plenty of steakhouse tomatoes this afternoon.
The only thing Roma tomatoes are good for is making some home made tomato sauce. That is the only reason that I grow them and with the amount of plants I had they have been producing enough fruit to make plenty of sauce for the winter.
The last vegetable I harvested today were a pair of peppers. One of them had started turning red and that is when I decided to pick it right then and there.
